Tell me about Compass..

Are you sure upgrades are still 6 months? Just looking at the way things look now I'd say if you were hired now you are looking at a time frame of years instead of months. There haven't been upgrades since last year and with 500 FO's all slowly building time toward an upgrade, I'd say if you were hired now - best case scenario the way things stand right now would be under 2 years. What few captain slots open up are going to be snatched up real quick real high up the list. Those last few street captains hired are going to be sitting reserve a real long time.
As for hiring 300 more pilots this year - is this still going to happen? The hiring has slowed to a trickle and 300 sounds like a lot of people to hire under 5 months (being as all classes are rumored to have been pushed back to August).

Read my above post. I think Compass is a good airline so either way you will be alright in the short run. Both Mesaba and Compass is a good bet right now and if you would rather fly the more advanced E175 with autothrottles go to Compass. I am not saying the current growth at Compass and Mesaba will last forever. Take it while it is still good and move on.

I am basing my figure on the month to month vacancy awards curently being awarded at XJ. Based on this Saab CA upgrade was running 3 to 6 months right now. XJ planning to hire 350 pilots in 2008 was announced at the FTops Pilot Career Conference in May. XJ is no longer hiring street CAs but upgrades into Saabs are still very short because they removed the seat locks on Saab CAs and FOs. Many Saab CAs have been moving up to CRJ9s and CRJ200 CA slots. The most junior DTW CRJ9 CA on an alternate list is a May 2007 hire.

It should obvious from above who I work for. I am beginning to wonder if you read at all or just pick and choose what gets your attention and try to pick an argument. The real question is who do you work for? You say you have a "lot" of fo friends at Mesaba? I doubt that from your statement. I don't know how else to make this clearer. From the vacancy awards, the most junior DTW Saab CA is a December 2007 newhire. Another one on the same vacancy award was a November 2007 newhire, and that was awarded back in January 2008. Now that makes it less than 6 months. The further movement was spurred by the fact that Saab CA seat locks have been removed so many of them have upgraded to CRJ200s and 900s so left more Saab CA positions open for junior FOs to upgrade into. To upgrade at XJ all you have to have is the ATP and 1500 hours total time in fixed wing aircraft. I am not going to spend more time on this tiring subject.

That would be like saying our upgrade is less than 6 months just because our junior CA was hired in December.....The inverse is not always true.
Upgrades at either company is now in the hands of the airline gods....
Now you have to ask yourself....do you feel lucky....well do you...punk!
So much for informative posts this week

what are the schedules like out of DTW? Does anyone have any kind of a list on the cities Compass serves or will serve once all aircraft are received? Whats the word on flowbacks from NWA once all the 9's are retired?
