I did the last Revenue and last Repo flight for Compass last night. It was amazing. The real employees that loved each other and could see through the BS of negativity and politics enjoyed themselves to the fullest. The love from everyone from towers, enroute, ground personal, internet, and everyone in between was a little overwhelming honestly. Still hard to believe such an amazing place could end up like this.
We had town car waiting for us to take us to Tuscon. Hotel was great and deadheaded home today.
Maybe upper management is disconnected with the real boots on the ground but I am MGMT and fought daily for what was best for my pilots. I take offense to anyone who accuses me of anything less.
And one one last thing. There was a deal on the table. And it was almost complete. Unfortunately this is not Hollywood and there is not always a happy ending. As my father used to say "We were diddled by the dangling dong of destiny."
For the record TSH is definitely to blame for the Compass down fall in case there is any doubt out there who to point the finger at.
The only thing we can do now is hope that our fellow aviators at gojet have a better run at it now that they are the sole survivor.
Best of luck to you all. Build each other up, don't tear each other down. Before this is all over there will be more pilots on the street. Good luck.

Very well said. I think when people talk about MGMT here they are referring to the very top MGMT. I’ve always said it but the mid level management and below are some of the best people in the business. The root of the problem comes from TSH, but I think we all know that. The one question I always ask is “how can one individual be the CEO for three separate companies under one umbrella and expect them to all run efficiently?” I hope I speak for a lot of us when I say thank you for fighting for what was right for us, as I know you did. If there needs to be an example of how great this pilot group is, the message you sent is a PERFECT example. It was well constructed and well received by a lot of us, if not all of us.
As far as the deal, it makes me angry this ended the way it did. Because it gives the negative people the perfect excuse to act like they knew a deal wasn’t coming. The fact is most of us on the line never would have known that there was a deal or not. But I think to a lot of us the signs of life were there... Thanks for bringing the last flight in and for all your contributions to this great place, and I wish you all the best in the future!

“Examining the meaning of the collective-bargaining-agreement exception for the first time, the California Court of Appeal has ruled that an employer is liable for unpaid pro rata vacation where its agreement with the union did not “clearly and unmistakably waive” the employees’ rights under Section 227.3.” Choate v. Celite Corp., No. B239160 (Cal. Ct. App. May 2, 2013).
“Notwithstanding the parties’ understanding of their contractual language and decades-long practice, the appellate court found the CBAs did not clearly and unmistakably waive the right to pro rata vacation pay. The CBAs did not discuss pro rata vacation pay or “cite section 227.3,” the Court said. In addition, it found the reference to the vacation allotment was insufficient to constitute a waiver.”
Bottom line? Take your CBA and consult with a licensed professional, not someone on an APC forum...and now I’m off to the lawyer forum to get some advice on how to handle an engine fire at V1.
