I’m an RSV guy and have been saying for a few weeks now, Furlough is inevitable. Everyone seems to blow this off or doesn’t want to talk about it. Realistically the “facts” I’ve heard is SEA will be gone around New Years. Even if a new contract was announced, there has to be some dead air between draw down, ramp up etc. A rate of 4 aircraft/mo means we’ll lose 7% of the fleet each month.

Walking to OO, besides making me want to puke, training has some delays. Waiting it out may be the same timeline as a swap. Going to Horizon for the West coast has the same implications and low hours.

So for the guys trying to grind, what’s the move here?

If you’re a line holder living in LA, stay a bit longer.

If you’re a line holder, especially a PIC, it makes sense to stay a bit longer, too.

If you’re on reserve, this is a horrible delay on your career progression.

If you’re commuting to reserve, Get the heck out, it’s not worth it.

I was here in 2017 when CA’s were calling in on the employee call begging for a flight because they hadn’t flown in 45 days. That’s the future here, for a lot of us, even if they dont furlough. Back in 2017, I stayed instead of chasing a CJO at republic. Guess which place I’d rather be at now. Any FO’s leaving here will get a raise at OO and a guaranteed future.

...Just a reminder that those LCC’s still pay 2-4x what cpz does with phenomenal retirement contributions and fast upgrades....

Doesn't hurt getting a class date at OO after the new year and backing out if things change. OO supposedly has slots in each class reserved for CPZ pilots making the switch. Not your worst option.
