Yea maybe not cupcakes and rainbows but tbh I haven't had much to complain about. I do live in base which definitely makes a world of difference. There's definitely room for improvement just like any other place but I'm genuinely overall happy that I'm here.

I don't believe anything's been announced. Mesa management claims they're still on the UAX schedule as far out as they can see. Which doesn't mean anything. Many things going on behind closed doors at UA and UAX. Expired CBA's, AVIATE, scope negotiations, etc.

We just built a new sim E-175 sim in PHX and added a new sign outside our hangar, some other internal signs also that shows growth. Like you guys we have no indication what goes on behind closed doors but I look at managements movements, I just got an internal email looking to help recruit new pilots, we only lost one guy in recruitment. I read what the company is doing not what they are saying. I know we are already starting negotiations for the new contract already. We are encouraging pilots to upgrade. I’m sure our management as well as yours has a preliminary outlook of what’s going to happen in the future. As incompetent as we think our management teams Compass/Mesa you have to give them the credit of they will plan and act accordingly to their forecast of the information they are given from mainline partners. I know it can change but remember they do have an idea of what’s going on a little and make decisions accordingly. We are getting/have the 737 operation ramping up. Bidding was suppose to be Dec/Jan, but until we can agree on the pay scale which will also effect our CRJ rates and E175 rates that will not materialize, that could also (just my guess) could be impacting why United has not started renewing our aircraft. From the money I can personally being spent by Mesa on the United side in our crew rooms, new furniture, new pictures, painting and all types of other things, looking for Mechanics in IAH when we have not lost any in 4 months, it points to company trying to grow not wind down. Look at what your company is doing actions speak louder than words. If you have full classes, still looking to staff at all levels, there should be silver lining for you. I hope there is. If you see things trending other direction then You have to make some decisions. You have nice group of pilots over there met a bunch of you on different interviews when applying to other gigs, if I lived in the west I would have went with best, tight knit family, good flying, and good peeps. You all will be good I’m pulling for ya. If things go south and need a quick gig to going Mesa pilots got your back, we would welcome you open arms. Hmmmmm maybe I should have taken that recruiting position lol. Any questions ask me here or PM me. I’m on Alpa sponsor committee here so I don’t spread rumors I’ll give you the facts or let you know if it’s true.

How can MESA fly a 737 and still fly for American and United? Doesn’t scope with those airlines not allow it?

Yes but would scope at AA or UA allow one of their regionals operators to operate a plane with >/=76 seats or over a certain weight for that matter, even if for someone else? I’m not exactly sure specifics on scope language. Or does that sort of thing not matter?

Hmm my opinion is that management is banking on pilot attrition matching the rate they lose planes. If attrition doesn’t keep up, furlough.
NH classes are pretty much empty or nonexistent and they don’t seem to mind.. upgrading only to cover half attrition, saying “no need to furlough at this time” etc.
My uneducated opinion is they had a deal in the bag and lost it and are stringing us along because if we don’t move planes they don’t get paid.
Also recently heard PHX MX was told to move to LA or hit the street.
I dunno. If I was a top 100 CA that lived in SoCal I might stick around to see how it plays out. But for those on reserve in either seat, or heading towards reserve... it’s going to be incredibly ugly.
I remember 2017 we had captains calling in on the employee call begging to fly because they hadn’t touched a plane in 50+ calendar days in a row. That was losing 2 planes per month for 3 months...
