United can’t own a majority of a regional. The FAs have a clause in their contract about it. I’m not sure exactly what it says. That’s the reason United came up with the Mana Air scheme to buy ExpressJet. UAL owns 49% of Mana Air and the other 51% is owned by people that UAL controls. Mana Air owns all of XJT. The specifics might not be exact but it’s something like that.

Seen what it does to FAs, and it’s not pretty. Or probably they just started that way.

I’m simultaneously amused and aggrieved that the FA’s Union was able to negotiate that with UA but the pilot’s Union didn’t.

UA mgmt: "Well, that was easy. I'm glad that we shoved that FA contract aside to focus on... oh, ****."

UA pilots and FAs: *high five each other*

If the scope concessions happen it will be Mana Air (which is United) buying all of TSH, not UAL Holdings....

FYI, UA cannot own a majority of any airline. That would be in direct violation of the FA scope in their current CBA. Hence the reason UA only owns 49% in C5 & Xjet

That's why mana air exists, ual part of mana air board, mana air controls the other 51 percent. Technically ual does not own controlling interest in companies under the mana air umbrella.

Man I’m counting the seconds until I can bounce out of here and not ever care about Mana air or what RL ate for breakfast ever again

Just flew one of the repo's going to Republic with a member of management. Sounds like United deal fell through.
