A DC9 is not a CRJ 700. Different airframes have different life limited parts. There has to be a reason there’s hundreds of them in the desert, and it’s not because airlines enjoy buying shiny new replacement airframes.

I heard alaska is offering possible pref interviews. What are you guys seeing? Is this happening? Any other companies making a point to help out? Good luck to all of you!

We all know that’s a bluff at a minimum and highly unlikely they find enough 700’s to convert over. It’s just not economical.

If UAL offers furlough protection through a flow down then the decision will be easy.
A flow down means a flow up does it not? UAL has shown no signs of a flow. Only rumors...

The A220 is certified ETOPS in Canada but not the US and it’s been like that for almost a year...just saying...FAA has a lot on their plate when it comes to certification as of late

Is there anyone in the US that WANTS to have them ETOPS certified?

A 550 is also going to have a higher operating cost, it has 26 fewer seats and most people have little interest in buying 1st class in 50 seat flights as they are not long enough.

And yet JSX

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSX_(airline)

Seems to be willing to make a go of it with old EMB 135s and 145s, rehabbed and now limited to only 30 pax.

Clearly they have a different idea than you if what is economically feasible.

We have to remember, those operations have a ridiculously low success rate. So I wouldn't say it's a marker that it is feasible.
