I usually use this site for memes and entertainment, but because I'm bored and I'm sick of updating and submitting apps here's a thought.

A new contract has been signed. But rather than release all of the information and prevent a max exodus of people leaving, they let companies offer preferential interviews and hiring, resulting in senior people on payroll going elsewhere. They wait till the last minute (mid-end September) and release the new flying announcement which is appealing, has no problem filling classes and makes TSH more money because now they're hiring junior people to fly a contract that they bid so low in order to secure the flying (in order to prevent another regional from underbidding our already low bid).

We never really had a LOT of Compass “lifers” but we did have some senior people who I was reasonably sure were competitive for the majors - at least LCCs - who never seemed motivated to put in apps for some reason. I didn’t pry - maybe training failures or something - but I often wondered. Now a lot of them have put in apps and largely been successful, even some fairly junior guys going to LCCs. That may cost them pay for the first year, but once they survive that first year paycut p they’ll certainly be better off - economically at least.

If Compass does get additional flying and survives, it’ll be fairly awesome for the people that do stay around. This has stimulated a lot of movement at the top of the seniority list and that’s gonna open up a lot of opportunities for the more junior people. Of course right now that’s a big “if.”

Not totally out of the realm of possibility. However, what about all the FOs that are leaving? If the company truly had large plans they would be trying to keep people from leaving.

In other news: Sun Country is giving out on the spot interviews to pilots after the ALPA interview workshops.

You realize your timeline is totally unrealistic.
I can almost guarantee no-one has been "largely successful" in applying, interviewing and securing a class date anywhere but other regionals during this time that the Delta news has been public.
Thats a 3-6 month process for places like Spirit and jetBlue.
Apparently Frontier is still out for you guys. So where have these people been largely successfully going during this month?

Haha I’m dying. HOW would YOU a BITTER career envoy pilot possibly know that. I personally know 12 CAs with CJOs and more with interviews. Mostly Delta, Alaska, and JetBlue. Cracks me up. Enjoy your career at Envoy.

All within a month from applying?
Sorry. I call BS.
I bet they are getting hired, but this is not a process that is completed within a month or so.

Interviews, yea sure. But as you might have guessed, my main point was the "largely successful", which obviously is too early to say. Wishing them all the best.

Btw. If you read my posts, you will find I am very far from bitter. And I am very far from being a lifer. Try harder next time.

I never understood why people from other airlines even come to our thread. It’s silly. I only post on compass threads because I’m only a compass pilot.

Side note.

IF the deal they were working on goes through, it is a very good deal. Hope it’s still in the works. But if the company gets what they’ve been planning, it’ll be a treat.

You can “BS” all you want, but I stand by my statement.

Exactly when they put in their apps I have no way of knowing nor did I claim to know. People from one regional or another have been posting that Compass’s Delta flying was dead meat since before I was hired, and certainly since the videotaped comment about consolidating Delta flying.

Whether these Compass pilots had inside information, were just putting out apps based on the rumors, or dropped their apps only after the official word, I don’t know and didn’t say. Your ASSumption that I said this all started three weeks ago doesn’t mean that ASSumption is true, nor does it make what I said BS. Read what I said again if that’s unclear to you.

What I do know is that a number of guys I thought would be competitive back when I was just off IOE but who for whatever reason never put out apps have now been motivated to do so and many of my acquaintance in that category appear to have been “largely successful”. That’s just plain fact.

And if (and I said that’s a big if) Compass does get more flying, that’s going to make great opportunities for those people junior to them that stick around. That’s just a function of a more rapid than normal movement of the seniority list and that’s a fact too.

I didn't assume anything. You said "now" so that suggested you were referring to this timeframe.

It's a 3-6 month process to go from application to a class date. I'm very happy for every CPZ guy who's getting out at this time. Like you say, it creates movement, and movement is great for the junior guys.

I hope you guys get new flying, and I hope it's the flying done by Mesa.

? That's dumb, I hope it's new flying which is not taken from any other carrier. Or new flying that just takes your job away, none of your airlines, just specifically your job personally
