Well, ATP-CTP is about $4K plus transportation and hotel. Getting them through training and typed is basically $10K in salary and per diem, plus transportation and hotel, AFTER recruiting the person, then paying for the instructors, sim time, OE, and then a $7.5 K bonus.

But that aside, conspiracy theories that include BOTH ‘they are spending thousands of dollars training people just to convince us to stay,’ AND ‘they are preparing imminent WARN letters/furloughs’ TOGETHER SIMULTANEOUSLY sounds just a mite schizophrenic.

As I’ve said, I think it’s PRUDENT to put out apps and explore options, but I think they are making an honest effort to come up with more flying, if only for their own self interest.

Training a pilot isn’t cheap. But having to cancel contractually obligated flights for DL and AA will run you well into the high six figures if not more depending on the severity.

Seriously? They ought to stop advertising for them then:

Yeah but I wouldn't read too much into that as the new VP supposedly wants to restructure management with fewer Chief Pilots....

Rumored out.

Just puttin’ out apps and seeing what sort of nibbles I’m getting. Options don’t look that bad, if it comes to that.

What sort of nibbles are you getting? SIC, but prior military?

Prior military scarcely counts for ex-WSOs. But pretty much all regional recruiters I’ve talked to indicate that anyone current with a type rating and any 121 time has an open invitation to their first class opening. Same for DEC positions if you have 950 hours, and near-DEC with considerably less than 950.

Alaska window won’t open again until October, my Spirit app is going out this week. Looks like Frontier is still going to embargo us until/unless furlough notices go out.
