Default AS flying??

Is there any chance that a potential pending deal for more flying for CPZ could be with Alaska? (When do SKW’s 175 contracts with AS expire?)

I wish the CPZ pilot group nothing but the best (and I hope everyone with apps out ends up in a much better place), but it sounds unlikely that A Next Big Deal really exists & more likely that CPZ management is talking fast enough to make Speedy Gonzalez look more like Fat Albert (I don’t mean the Blue Angel’s C-130...). However, given UA’s scope restrictions, I wonder if something with AS wouldn’t be more likely (less unlikely?) if CPZ isn’t blowing sunshine simply to string everyone along until the end of the DL contract or other point of their choosing.

Again, best wishes to everyone at CPZ in working through things!

IMO I think compass is done. No new news, CEO RL memo was not hopeful, employee call pushed back into mid September, radio silence from the company. I’m guessing on 9/31 we’ll get a furlough announcement.

Everything happens for a reason...I know it’s incredibly frustrating especially in this market. But it WILL work out the way it’s supposed to. I had many friends that wanted jobs at certain majors and ended up at other airlines. They are ecstatic about where they are now, and have no regrets, I think there much happier with where they are vs. where they thought they wanted to be. Keep the faith...it’ll happen!

As someone with some seniority in their seat now, (even if just by cp standards), I agree that we should be scrutinizing this situation. Since I started here, there has been a pattern of us catching onto signs of degrading conditions, those signs being downplayed, only to be acknowledged later as the truth becomes too obvious to deny.

My point is, an announcement that would benefit us all would be an outlier on the graph I've experienced. But, I want it as much as anyone and think we're lucky to have most of the people at this company (yes including a fair amount of mgmt and nearly all of our crews & training). Let's keep looking out for our own, I'm happy to be here.

I admire and respect your optimism and agree that there are some great people working here. MW, RL, and RT aren't in that group. I hope you’re looking around and planning for the inevitable. Good feelings and happy thoughts won’t help when the furlough letter comes. Senior management couldn’t care less about stringing you along to the end only to leave you hanging.

I have to believe management BELIEVES they can bring in additional flying. Whether that belief will become reality or not we’ll have to see. It’s not that I believe TSH is inherently wonderful or looking after our interests necessarily, but they damn sure look after their OWN interests and right now they are continuing to hire people and run classes.

http://newton.newtonsoftware.com/car...52cc20d9a20bf3

With the drawdown in Delta flying we will be losing 3 aircraft per month. That means we will need ~36 pilots less a month every month.

Historically, our attrition is only about 20 a month, meaning unless we get additional flying we will soon have EXCESS pilots. Yet we are still recruiting and training and hiring people.

One would wonder why if management believed we were truly going to have an excess of pilots and furloughing, as some have suggested, TSH would be sending people to ATP-CTP and paying them to get E-170/190 type ratings, or sending out recruiters, or hiring support personnel? They are, frankly, too damn cheap too do that, and if the flying is going away anyway they simply wouldn’t waste the money.

So I think they are trying and trying hard, because I don't think a 20 aircraft fleet will be economically viable. They either get more flying or the whole place closes down. So I think they are certainly trying. They may not be able to pull off whatever they are trying for, but I think they are giving it their best shot. Time will tell.

In the meantime, putting out apps is prudent, and good practice in any event and a lot of our captains (and a few of our FOs) are being far more successful doing that than they expected. And if TSH does manage to pull it off it might be quite interesting - what with all the senior people moving out, for those who are still here.

When we found out we were losing 6 delta birds (and a failed UA bid) in 2017, they froze upgrades and hiring immediately and canceled indoc classes too FWIW

This is accurate. We are still hiring and upgrading and as of now, I just can't figure out why. 9/12 is the deadline. If they don't announce something by next call, they will be annihilated during questions time.

And I swear if I hear Dottie's life story or how to change the font colors in IOCC, I am going to stroke out.
