Losing Delta and New Opportunities
#341
Ok now I have the brakes lol.. Let's not go down this road. It never ends well. I have seen a lot of people leave before me.. People who didn't know when to drop the gear when I flew with them, but they got experience, some but not all upgraded, and now they're at a major while I'm still here getting the tbnt from jet blue etc etc.. Rather than get bitter, I (we) have to be happy for everyone who makes it. Some will go before others, and it doesn't mean anything bad for those who are left behind.. This whole thing is a mystery. No one knows why some go and others who are well qualified dont.
If you let the bitterness in, you might take it with you to your next interview. And you'll be miserable to fly with before you leave.
Edit: to the lower time, don't assume that any Milestone will guarantee anything because it won't. At the same time get your apps in and reviewed early and hopefully you can get out sooner than you think

I was with 2 airlines that went under where I ended up on the street. I feel sorry for the Compass guys. I've felt sorry for them ever since they were sold to TSH.
I can guarantee you all of one thing, the well being of Compass people and their families is not his last concern, actually, to him, it is not a concern at all. If he finds 2 deals, one where all Compass people have jobs and one where they become unemployed, if the deal where they are all unemployed gives him a dollar more, he will take that. He does not hide that, he never has, it is a simple math problem to him.

There's a pretty definitive line between regionals and majors when talking about pay scales. You can clearly see that line when talking about Skywest and any other regional vs. Jet Blue, Spirit, Frontier etc. Make no mistake about it, any major (arguably any place that flies metal that aren't RJs) are a step up from any regional. Even if you aren't talking about the top tier legacies.

Thanks man, it was a small set back.. I had my evening of an ice-cream-in-bed-oprah-watching pity party, but now I've moved on to the next opportunity, which to my surprise, came today actually. All is well..

I jumpseated on one of their flights, and there is probably no airline out there in more desperate need of a snack basket auditor.

The terms of major and national carriers were once solely based on annual revenues. Now, because some bean counter used the world legacy to try and make a point to gut a contract over 20 years ago we all cling to this word as if it actually means something in the pilot world. It doesn’t.

The term “Legacy” was coined by a former US Air executive to describe their pilot’s “mature” collective bargaining agreement in an attempt to gut it. It’s a ridiculous and worthless term and means nothing. Hawaiian and Alaska are legacies and they’re barely on par with some LCCs.
