Losing Delta and New Opportunities

It's easy to criticize those of us who stayed, but suppose you left last fall or this spring? You would be sitting very junior and rightfully very worried. None of us saw corona coming and what it would do to the whole industry. We all figured if we stayed at compass and got furloughed, we'd all have a place to go. Well now there's no place to go, and one would only be marginally better off being junior at a major.. So what's your point? We got played? Ok, whatever you say dude.
Staying was a calculated risk based on what we all knew before corona. I think furloughs will hit many more people. Pretty lame to come on our boards and imply we were dumb for staying. I had reasons to stay and had back up plans in place.. Welp.. None of those assumptions apply now. If I had gone to the first place that called, I doubt I would have been better off. Many of those who left compass right away are all sitting pretty nervous right now. I hope they all make it through without a furlough.
Right now it's all about celebrating what a tight knit, awesome pilot group we had, all the memories we made together, and what it means to have been privileged enough to be part of a special fraternity of pilots, flight attendants, and mechanics who were here from 2014-2020.

You stayed an extra 6 months. You flew the line, built PIC and could possibly have snuck in a LCA or Safety position with the airline. Anyone who stayed built on something. If you left within the last 6 months, you’re getting furloughed somewhere. People were a week from checking at OO and got sat. Everyone’s getting sat. So since EVERYONE is sidelined, I don’t think staying was even the wrong call.
The dudes who throw stones at CP folk in here usually havent had to make the tough call. Kinda funny who decides to throw stones.

I understand BLS. We are all in this together. It’s ugly now but it will get better in the coming weeks. I’m still optimistic. This will be a small blip in a long and successful career.

With cargo moving and so much backlog plus e-commerce will ramp up as our losses of life unfortunately haven’t nearly peaked by a long stretch it seems. So bad. Ground transport of goods must remain open. Any ideas on removing seats on anything and capitalizing on that space...? That may have been tabled or just a ludicrous notion on my part.

Let the junior assign late night calls come while on days off. Turn that ringer off, but hey I couldn't make it to a single one they tried to assign me. Perhaps they should look at where people actually live .... i know we have a base and they just go down the list.
