So since all SEA pilots are now LA based...does that make them ineligible for WA state unemployment when the inevitable furlough/layoffs happen? Wouldn't it also make them ineligible for CA state unemployment because they haven't played into the system?

I guess we technically have till the end of April before we are LA based.

I'm not sure how that will work out.

WA Unemployment bases calculations in a base year on a quarterly basis. So if your base year was 2019 and you were based in PHX (due to training) for 1Q then in the 2-4Q you were Seattle based you can collect unemployment based on the last three quarters of your base year even if you move out of state. Going forward, being LA based after April, you’ll have to claim in CA too, if allowed.

Go to WA State Employment Security and create an account, you should be able to see what you’ll get without starting a claim.

https://www.esd.wa.gov

I went through this process twice last decade, and it hasn’t changed much.

Good Luck to you guys. I flew with Compass for a year and a half, most fun I’ve ever had at a job and I hope everybody in the pilot group lands on their feet.

Question: Is compass going to continue flights into the Bay Area with the lockdown? Non-essential travel is illegal as I read the directives from the health office. Curious if anyone has any insight.

I was wondering the same thing... I think a shutdown of west coast airports is imminent

Can I use public transportation or still get on that flight I booked?

Public transportation will still continue to operate for those who need to perform essential services, but passengers will have to keep at least six feet from each other.

Although the order instructs people not to travel unless it’s essential, operations at the Mineta San Jose International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport will not be affected by the order.

Aircrews traveling for work (only) is deemed “essential travel.” If you’re commuting, you should be good to go. At this point, domestic travel is still limping along.
