Didn't he say if you don't hear anything by the end of the year I'd start to worry? Well... it's about here.

I believe so? I'm sure in their defense they will say that the statement was related to the previous agreement and not this "minority interest" that is upon us. One thing's for sure, January is coming and I continuously meet people who are pulling the ripcord come the new year.

That's right, he did say that. Something easy to say in October lol, but now we are 2 weeks away from the end of the year (according to my madagascaran calendar) with no news and its just laughable now that they still expect us to 'standby' because we 'wont want to miss this.' the mesa flying was the only thing that fit except for one small detail-- RT said something to the effect that this would not be the standard type of flying or it would change the industry or something (someone with a better memory feel free to correct me).

That's why I bring up amazon.. They've already crossed assumed industry lines with mesa and now sun country flying for them. I'm not itching to fly a 737 for regional pay, I think we can all agree that's not a win for pilots across the board. But I wonder if that's the opportunity if there even is one. I'm not planning to wait and find out, but I've been trying to leave since I got here so nothing new there lol.

Hoping you get the job you’re after. Agreed, this amazon flying is bad for pilots across the board and you really don’t want to be a part of it. If so, it would be a terrific opportunity for contract negotiations as they would have to open up 737 rates. We would have leverage to clean up some of the abysmal contract sections and language (“company need” anyone?). I think ALPA needs to take a step back and address the negative impacts of this Amazon whipsaw that is being created. It negatively impacts the profession and leads down a very dark path.

I am starting to worry that Amazon might actually be the new partner. the real key indicator is that "minority interest", Amazon holds a minority stake in Atlas, Southern and now will also have a stake in Sun Country! It would not surprise me at all if compass was next.

Difficult to see such an arrangement saving Compass. A different aircraft with a different mission for LESS Money. I mean, if someone desperately needed a type rating to further their career...well, maybe briefly. But the hiring wave at the majors has barely started and as soon as the MAX gets recertified that will generate a requirement for 2000 pilots more, plus Moxie/Breeze.

The opportunities out there are too many and too good to take bad ones.

I’m still on the 170/190 train. I don’t believe we’ll be flying anything else. Ok ok, Amazon 190 freighters?!

Funny thing is, last year there were some semi-strong rumours Amazon wanted to start a feeder type service using smaller jets (MRJ at that stage) to secondary locations. But at the time never made it off the ground.
