It could still happen, it's an issue of converting the dates. The mayan calendar says 2015, but on the aztec calendar that corresponds to Q1 2020. See below...

There is no reason for Mesa to buy Compass unless they have made a back room drug deal to keep the AAG flying. Even then, Mesa already has a 170 certificate and the AAG contracts. They could bring those pilots in OTS and not buy the company.
