Must have been on a LOA while at his new gig. According to the CBA, up to one year, that’s the only way to recall your seniority. Greater than one year LOA, or resignation, forfeits any seniority.
However the CPO has rescinded a resignation in the past, after someone failed out of NH training at their new job. In typical fashion ALPA did nothing about it.

The only thing that makes sense here is if he came back and got awarded street captain. They cannot direct hire a SLIP CA. That would be a violation.

Ha. This place is about to see droves of direct entry captains. It sucks, but the company/union don’t care

I don't get it. Half the regional's have FOs intentionally delaying upgrade for QOL reasons, some of them whine about how their companies are forcing them to upgrade when they don't want to,and you are complaining about not being to upgrade to captain until you have what? 2500 HR TT? 3000 TT?
Your Suck-o-meter needs recalibration.
After your 12 month "short" tour in the sandbox has been extended by four months because they are short on relief personnel, it's kind of hard to listen to someone whining about a five or six month delay in upgrading when that person is sleeping in nice hotels and not in a bunker bunk room with four other guys, and when he's getting home two weeks a month.
We get it, you'd like to get your TPIC and move on. So would everybody, but you might try keeping things in perspective.

Anyone notice the uptick in FAs who are convinced we are losing all our American flying? I make career decisions based on FA rumors so nice flying with you guys. I'm going back to flight instructing.

“I was in the military and it sucked more so your problems are invalid.”
The same argument could be made against you. You made the choice to go to the military so no one is going to feel bad for you for what hardships it’s brought you, and it certainly doesn’t make other people’s problems trivial.
This guy is eager to advance his career, screw him, right? Life has been harder for people born before him, so how dare he want faster progression and better QOL.
Guarantee you won’t see him complaining about how your probably had most of your training paid for by Unvle Sam
