You know, 10 or 15 years ago this would have been a total bummer. But even if the worst happens, there are lateral jobs everywhere that are begging for anyone holding an ATP, a type rating, and virtually any amount of 121 time. This ain’t 2005 with nobody hiring, everybody furloughing, and guys who had worked for honest-to-God major airlines losing pensions they had worked a couple of decades to earn.
I do think that if Compass goes under, Frontier’s recruiting problems are going to be solved for a year or two though, since the TSH flow agreement with them was primarily designed to LIMIT the attrition from Compass to Frontier, not to facilitate it.
So it’s your choice. Roll the dice and stick around and see if the seniority you already have is going to prove valuable or get a jump on everyone here by establishing seniority elsewhere. Only time will tell which was the better decision. My bias is that as long as I can log 70 hours a month here I’m probably going to do precisely that, unless/until one of my apps to a major comes through.
YMMV.

This is the regionals. The name of the game is get in, get the hours, and go elsewhere. Unless you ASPIRE to be a regional lifer. You are sitting at the start of the greatest demand for major airline pilots in the last 3 or 4 decades. Why wouldn’t you want to log hours?

To each his own but I’m not sure I follow the logic. You think there is going to be TOO MUCH flying so you are going elsewhere?

Who aspires to be a regional lifer lol. And no I don't think there is going to be too much flying, I think we are gonna lose too many pilots and it's gonna be a sh!t show. just about everyone I've flown with or ran into has some other option they are pursuing. There are plenty more stable opportunities to log hours. There aren't gonna be any hours to log in a few months.
What I didn’t understand - and don’t agree with - was your comment that in 2-3 months there won’t be enough people to fly the lines we will have. You may be correct, I suppose, anything is possible, but that sure wouldn’t be my guess.

It was a question that was brought up, and deflected on the call. If we lose a third, or even half of our pilot group, will there be enough pilots for the new flying? Or even the current flying for that matter.
Are a lot of people waiting on class dates, especially captains.
