Are you saying you would ASAP a flight where they wouldn't call out sick but flew anyway? Or if they did call in sick but almost didn't because of fear of being fired? I'm not following

If they feel pressurized to fly sick they should grow a backbone and file an ASAP in their new program. Destination safety. They’ll be fine.

Dont you need to have done something on accident to qualify for an ASAP program? How would flying sick fit into this? I could only see an in-flight illness scenario applying in which case you are required to file a crew report.. So I'm confused how the ASAP program applies to this?

Didn’t half the FAs call out a couple weekends ago? They should all be healthy and ready to service the customers by now

Do they have the same protection like us if the company asks for a doctors note then the company pays for it? Cause I can see them not wanting to pay for a doctor when they bring in $1200 a month.

I'm thinking that an FA flying while sick is a potential safety issue. The ASAP program exists to identify safety issues.

Of course, only the FA can determine if they are fit to fly or not. But if the decision to not call in sick is influenced by fear of punishment, that sounds like a pervasive safety issue.

I didn't know FAs have their own ASAP program now. This should definitely be reported through that program if it happens.

I'm looking at it from a far more simple angle. If you're sick, how about you stay at home and away from me, because I don't want to get sick from your sick ass who didn't call out! If I get sick then I'm calling out, missing trips, missing flight time, and missing money. There are reserves for a reason and if the company is short on pilots or FAs, then they should have planned better. If there aren't crews to fly, tough lesson to learn, better do something about it management.

Need to buy more wipes, hand sanitizer, and Emergen-C... starting to run out after these last two trips with sick captains.

I got sick last year, pretty sure it was from a sick flight attendant who I should have kicked off the trip. I was so upset when I had to burn my sick time, get a doctor's note for the CP office, get in recovery to make it up etc.. It was partly my fault for letting her stay on, but that's not happening again. I'm glad your bringing this up because it's not fair to everyone else and I think this happens too much.

It's hard enough staying healthy out there when you're double fisting oreo minis for breakfast in Oklahoma with no sleep from the night before, we don't need sick crews. If someone shows up sick to my flight and they're like obviously sick, I'm gonna have to be that guy that kicks them off if they're not willing to make the call, which will be lame, but whatever, we all know better than to do that.
