I’ll be interested to see just how many people actually pass on it. BTW, where is the most recent seniority list?

Bobby, I live in a fairly junior F9 base on the east coast so yep.
And I agree that best thing to do is check the 1000 PIC box before leaving here. After all, that’s why we came to compass, to get the PIC. Leaving for a LCC without checking that box is, in a way, shooting your own airlineapps in the foot at the big 3 if you ask me. Best case scenario is compass gets extended many more years, and we all get some PIC/LCA boxes checked

My bet is most of the señor captains will bypass 1 yr. We have a good record of guys getting fedex and dal obviously, and if you're a 1000+tpic LCA or next in line for that, i'de imagine one would hold out for a legacy.
But if you'll live in base at F9 and you are an FO now, might not be a bad move.. The deliveries over there look enticing.. If the upgrade times come down even more to like 2 yrs, you could do alright at F9. It's like those who went to NK in 2016-17, they got a better contract and now they are upgrading

Yeah it's a tough call for the captains I would think.. I mean, compass was such a gravy train during 2014-2015 because a small pilot group got to borrow 20+ airplanes (triggered anyone?) and the movement flowed like un-taxed taco truck money at Manhattan Beach. If all the deliveries really happen at Frontier (confirmed right?) the movement for some getting on now will be very nice.
But, I live in LA (partly because my goal is to always live paycheck-to-paycheck) and a commute to PHL for $57/hr after taking a financial hit on the *no hotels paid* situation during training would be a tough pill to swallow. I know it gets better 2nd yr, but not exactly a good first impression for a recent TA'd airline in 2019-- notwithstanding the improvements of course.. I have a good schedule this year and a shot at LCA if MD doesn't mind the memes. Maybe it's better to give myself another year to try for something better.
I know. I know. *cool story bro*

It’s a no brainer for an FO, year 1 there is higher than CP top of scale. Unless you are certain that you will be hired in the next year I don’t know why you wouldn’t as a CA either. If you don’t get hired in a year and then go you will be at $57/hr when you could have been at $105/hr. IMO unless you have the interview scheduled and are 100% sure you will get it at legacy or major cargo, I would go and keep my apps up to date. Better to spend a few years at 105-130 than a few years at 78-97, and worst case you are in line and get to 240 quicker.
Alternatively, all you’ve really risked is the difference between CPZ captain pay and 1st year Frontier FO pay and the additional RJ TPIC versus the Airbus TSIC.

Indeed. If you’ve already got your 1000 TPIC I can’t see the downside if you can still live in base. Yes, first year pay sucks, but you add a non-RJ type rating which may do as much for your resume as a RJ LCA job would, and you get to upgrade at Frontier as soon as there is a slot for you, assuming you don’t get your call from your dream job earlier. Which if they really ARE taking delivery of all those airbuses, wouldn’t be that long a wait.

I think at the end of the day, if your sitting mid pack on the seniority list your prob still years away from this flow based one 2-4 pilots a month. Granted I’m sure guys will pass on it, I’m sure more will take it as their number gets called. If I’m still here buy the time I’m called, then I’m taking it. I’m already going on year 4 here

Given how much of the appeal for Compass has been "west coast bases" I don't see how attractive commuting to PHL would be to someone who lives in LAX, SEA, or PHX. Granted, guys commuting from LAS I'm sure would jump at the opportunity to eventually be living in base, but I'm guessing a lot of locals in Compass bases would be tempted to hold out for Alaska, American, Delta, United, UPS, or FedEx (for LAX guys), American or Southwest for those in PHX, and Alaska or Delta for those in SEA. Of course guys who are commuting are probably much more easy to persuade to take the flow, but none of Frontier's bases are shared with Compass, so you're definitely commuting to one of those places if you don't decide to move.
I know when I was at Compass, I told myself things had to get quite bad to decide to jump ship for anything less than a "career airline" where I could happily see myself retire from at 65 or whatever age I am when the robots take over.

If you’re not hellbent on mainline, though, F9 and spirit are phenomenal places to be going. Night and day better than this regional business if you ask me. This job sucks and keeps you from your families and, well, your life. Might as well go somewhere that pays enough to justify that

At least the paycheck matches the livery on the plane over at F9.
