Management shenanigans
Sadly, with a broken live reserve grid and availability list, there isn't much we can do to hold the company accountable for any right seat CA assignments.

You nailed it. Increased upgrades, metered new hire classes, right seat qualification approval...all happening within a month of each other. I find it hard to believe that it is a coincidence.

Captains will now be qualified to act as a Captain qualified First Officer. The company claims they'll only be used once FO reserves are expended, however we've been almost purposely short FOs for over a year and have had a broken reserve tracking software for longer. So essentially the company has access to an excuse to not staff by using Captains as FOs. Our last MEC allowed the company to do this and didn't advise the pilot group or let us vote on it. We gained little and the company gained a lot. Not to mention the MEC extended our contract 2 years again without our input or vote. This was essentially a lame duck act by the last MEC as they were immediately replaced and some even immediately left for another company leaving the mess for us to bare.
Edit: This is heavily opiniated post but I will say if this was voted on I would've voted no.

But seriously, I would have voted no right there with you. Although if the right seat program is now FAA approved, I'm going to laugh that the government got their act together quicker than the private sector (IOCC/Lido) did at their end.

It is a knee jerk reaction. Remember guys and girls, FAR 117 governs everything. Most of us are blocking 85-90 hours a month anyway with not much room to add any additional flying. I think the company will find the right seat captain thing will be a complete failure and was a utter waste of time and energy.

You lose a lot more captains to the majors than you do FOs. Until upgrades match or nearly match newbie hiring, it's hard to see this being a problem.

I wonder if it will be abused more on the junior manning side. Again this is all assuming the company will do some shady maneuvering of seniority and reserve lists, but it allows them to junior man a captain to an FO position because you are the most junior man "available", again weak wording in our contract.

Does anybody use the 5 port XLR Connection? (Airbus type) Does it provide ships power or do you still need batteries?
