Some people have all the luck! All I got was a vacation at an all inclusive resort worth $10,000! All I had to pay was $50 with my credit card.

I heard that when I was in training and more so during OE. It seems like it's easy to over think.. I also like how it's a little more efficient to get off the gate and start taxiing on one, even if you burn two as soon as you start moving.
Anybody know how many we are losing to the DAL December 10th class? I know of 3 people, but I suspect it's more

You're lucky, I got a call from the IRS saying I owe $2000 and I have to pay them in Best Buy gift cards or I'm going to jail!

At the regional level, there’s no reason to taxi single-engine. You don’t get profit sharing for your savings and your company doesn’t buy the fuel; the company that contracted out your job does. I’ve only had a handful of situations that warranted it...taxiing from the box to 25R wasn’t one of them. Using 50% THR to get going and burning the APU negates any of that fuel savings on the 175, unless it’s an extended taxi time. Nothing’s more painful to watch than a 175 at 40% N1 trying to accelerate. Also, a cold engine burns more fuel on TO.

Ya but the Delta guy in the back will hear me start number 2 right before takeoff and after the flight will get me a job. That's how it works right?

The economic benefits are certainly worth single-engine taxiing, not to mention the environmental benefits of not burning 2 engines as you’re sitting on Bravo in Seattle with 15 planes in line for takeoff ahead of you. There is so much waste system wide in the airlines, not just with fuel, so even 100lbs of fuel saved really adds up if everyone pitches in. If you think that fuel savings from taxiing single-engine in your regional jet is negligible, you’re thinking is too narrow and need to consider the bigger picture of the whole industry saving 100lbs per taxi.
I will say that it would be way more beneficial to single-engine taxi at Compass if we had an easier cross-bleed start policy that didn’t require us to park the plane and follow a checklist, similar to Skywest. As we normally do it here with one engine and the APU burning, we’re really only saving about 300lbs an hour at most, as opposed to roughly 550lbs an hour with just one engine and no APU.
