Good news. According to the scheduling committee update it looks like reserve in EWR is down to two months, the lowest in months. And this should get better as we continue to upgrade lots of people the next few months.

That's GREAT news, and concurs with what I'm hearing as of late.

cooperate to graduate. A lot of street captains taking a long time on ioe for not showing captain authority. Training is good but you have to be able to make PIC decisions and back them up.

A senior APD on property told me words that have worked pretty well for me.

"our operations, the passengers, the gate agents, the rampers; everyone is pressuring you to go go go and speed up. But you're being paid in the left seat to slow things down when needed."

that and

"It's better to have not gone when you could have, than have gone when you shouldn't."

Idk and probably listen to Kendrick Lamar, sit down, be humble.

I'm assuming that post is in reference to Captains.

For First Officers, its atrociously long. Our class' date of hire was May 2019 and everyone is still on Reserve. We expect half the class to get a line at (EWR) in March 2020 and the other half in April 2020. For those that are IAD based, they can expect to get a line in June 2020. Additionally, most of our class just consolidated (flew 100 hours) last month (Jan 2020). With two consolidating this month (Feb 2020).

Current Data (as of 2/12/2020)
EWR:
Time to hold a line from date of hire for First Officers is 10 months
IAD:
Time to hold a line from date of hire for First Officers is 13 months

Time to consolidate from date of hire for First Officers is 8 months (5 months from checkride).

It is true, this should start to trend down with FO attrition and Captain upgrades.

I don't know where the other poster is getting their info regarding FOs. While FO reserve WAS high, it has come down. Of course that does not help people that were hired 8+ months ago.

DECs are needed, so DECs are flying. Last DEC I spoke to said he was on reserve for 4 months and since things keep getting worse (latest is a company-wide email begging for training staff) I don't think you'll be on reserve long.

The problem in the last few months for FOs isnt the time on reserve, its not consolidating and having to go back for another checkride. Some people are waiting months just for IOE.
