I'm not saying I'm entitled to anyone's IAD flying under these circumstances. I have been displaced to ERJ for Nov according to the displacement bid. I had a choice and I chose ERJ.

The company cannot eliminate a position, displace everyone from that position, and then require them to bid for a reserve schedule in that same position.
This!
The company wants their cake and eat it too.

This explains a lot.

With your head so deep in the company's butt, I can understand why you have trouble seeing what's around you.

Thank goodness for that. We can't have company kiss-butt apologists in the union that think seniority doesn't matter.

Let me give you an idea of how a real contract works so you and SKN can understand what your fellow pilots are talking about.

Under the United contract the EWR DH8 pilots would be TDY to another base in this case the only base IAD DH8. They would bid based on THEIR seniority number and where they would fall on the roster in that base, if their seniority could hold a line they would get a line even if it bumped a true IAD DH8 pilot onto RSV.

The company should not force a pilot to sit out of base reserve just because their base closed if they could hold a line. NOW with that said if your contract doesn’t protect against this then that’s your fault.

Your and SKNs idea of “How seniority works” is wrong in all circles except for your small airline.

The pilots were awarded Jet slots beginning 11/1. They should be OFF waiting for training.

I understand however you have to give the company a little flexibility due to the finite number of training slots. I’d have to look it up but I believe it’s 60 days (2 bid periods) after the closure of your category before you get to sit at home and collect guarantee.

At UA right now there are IAH 787 pilots TDYd to SFO and IAD because the IAH 787 category closes in the OCT bid period. The only pilots sitting at home doing nothing are 747 pilots because there are no more 747s to fly after the OCT bid period.

Flexibility? That's fine.

Forcing them to sit reserve (most likely airport reserve) is quite another.

I covered that in my first post......but like I said in that post if your contract doesn’t cover this scenario then there’s nothing to complain about.

I mean... Or you can all go fly for another airline with bases in roughly the same geographical areas with better pay, better flying, and better career progression. Everyone is hiring. Endeavor’s new TA looks mighty fine. Envoy and Piedmont are pretty much hiring DECs and PSA has about a 6 month upgrade as of right now. Why are any of you putting up with that nonsense in this hiring environment?

We went from 351 pilots to 280 in the last 12 months.
Many aren't putting up with it.
Unfortunately, a lot of people remember not too long ago when this used to be a cool place. Some believe it's worth fighting for to get that back. It's a almost a no-brainer for new hires, but harder for folks with 3-5 years seniority.
