From the way I understand it, the Beech 1900 is going away as a 121 aircraft. The reasoning I have heard is due to its lack of a secure cockpit door. I have talked to numerous senior captains at C5 and they said that was one reason that they transitioned to the dash.

I bet you can pick up Dornier 328's (prop version) pretty cheap these days. Plus an airline in germany just ceased operations and parked 9 328's.

Forgive me, my memory is a bit hazy but didn't Lynx have Q400s? I thought I saw a handful parked near the north cargo facility off of Mike at SDF a few years back.

Not that it really matters, but where did those end up?

I'm not sure if this is correct, but I've heard the Saab 340Bs and ATR-42s are cheaper to operate than the Dash-8 200s and E120s. I would imagine there's a minor difference in operating cost if any.

I wouldn't doubt it, but it seems that Silver is scooping up all of the Saab 340s that they can get their hands on.

It'll be interesting what they decide to do, if anything.

I was told when I was hired that they dropped the 1900 because united wanted them to have a cabin class aircraft...

Only reason I see behind the post is that Tim works here and some people still see the need to beat a dead horse. I really hope that this thread doesn't head down this path.
