Sugar coat it all you want, moving from Dash CA to ERJ FO is a downgrade. Call it an equipment displacement, call it an involuntary vacancy. Whatever you want to call it, itis a $20k pay cut when everyone else seems to be raising pay.

I'm not sugarcoating anything. Just asking a question.

Anybody that was an immediate upgrade this year knew well in advance of the dash was going away. You can't just assume that since your a captain on one airplane that you should automatically be a captain on another. It doesn't work like that at any airline. I'm not saying it doesn't suck, but that's the truth. When the MD-80 goes away at Delta, do you think all the MD-80 captains are going to get displaced automatically to a 737 captain? No! They are going to hold whatever their senior already allows them to, and that will most
likely be FO on a different airplane, it is no different here.
The difference, is that we should be growing, and should be seeing upgrades quicker.

Official is when they post it. This afternoons email was semi-informative, but get on with it and publish the displacement. Bidding opens in 2 days, is no one going to get a choice in the class they get assigned next month. It’s sad it’s taking this long.

It seemed, though, that only the first two classes were left. If you're being displaced I don't think you'll get a choice, right?

I received a call yesterday from the CP to select a class for jet FO. I'm near the top in EWR FO, so I'd assume they're going down the list.

There were only two classes to choose from for FO’s based on the vacancy award class dates and seats they published

Good to know. That implies to me they have completed the displacement bid, but aren’t sharing the results, just like they do with the vacancy awards most of the time.

WakeUp!
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Mgmt’s dumb but they aren’t stupid. They aren’t hiring and don’t care about attrition because they aren’t getting 40 jets. By the time the pilots realize that the seniority list will have shrunk to around 225. Then the list will shrink back to about 175. The only people left will be the folks who can’t go anywhere else.
Last one out don’t forget to get the lights.
