Without a large amount of spare aircraft, I don't see how extra reserves would fix the few delays we have early in the morning at outstations after a GDP delays half of the fleet.

No you wouldn't need reserves at outstations. These GDP are implemented early in the day, and updated hourly or every two hours. Reserves would be used to replace crews going out on their last turn who will likely time out in the out station, or to operate the last flight out as a stand up in order to get back on time in the morning. We do have a couple spares each day as well.

Plus, next month there are no -300 lines. All 300s are spares until they are returned.

Interesting points but it'd be tough to take a 300 to JAX MKE PWM BNA etc... We have another fleet type here after all. Speaking of which:

August ERJ openings
16 EWR CA
16 EWR FO

Well, obviously they can't do that. But let's be reasonable here as this isn't hard, it's called a swap. You send the jet to the distant location and put the dash on one of the many jet destinations that it can cover.

We have jets?

Let me get this straight.. You expect CommutAir to execute a plane swap and use reserve pilots effectively in a crisis??

Perhaps your plan works next month while the 300s are sitting idle waiting for flying, if what you say is true.. Not now while the 300s are already covering flying that the ERJ side cannot staff.

I expect nothing from Commutair, and I'm happier for it...

Just explaining how it should work.

We should have over 25 jets flying right now. We have 16. We'll see how things play out in July, but the spares you spoke of haven't existed. Those 300s have already been covering shorter jet routes all year. The 300s and the dash reserve pilots can't be used as spares to compensate for EWR's daily GDPs if they are already covering normal jet ops.

Performance looks a lot better lately. I wonder if things are getting better or if our obligations have just been reduced.

Is it common for monthly bid awards to be late? Just wondering why they aren't posted.
