You must be upset if you can't accept a perfectly reasonable explanation.. You do understand what a GDP is and how slots are allotted, correct?
Let me ask you this. If 60% of your airline's flights went through EWR, and EWR issues a GDP that delays all your flights by 2 or 3 hours, how would your airline's on-time performance numbers look? Please explain how you would catch up from behind on your next EWR turn, after the GDP put you 3 hours behind the first time around.
We certainly can't push "on time" then make the passengers sit for 2 hours on tiny hot airplanes, just so we can brag on other airlines' threads about our performance numbers.. But we are open to other suggestions.

Or
Slots.
EWR requires issues at other hub airports in order to run smoothly. If the rest of the system is running smooth and EWR has good wx then GDPs happen becouse they can't handle all the scheduled traffic.
LGA and JFK are the same. 105%+* capacity everyday.

Reserve coverage would help a bunch. Now with GDPs it's creating crew rest issues, it's getting better but this single handledly would solve our issues.

Without a large amount of spare aircraft, I don't see how extra reserves would fix the few delays we have early in the morning at outstations after a GDP delays half of the fleet.
