But, is there any distinction between the definition of 'awarded' a seat through he bidding process versus 'assigned' a seat through the bidding process. Most CBA's consider 'awards' subject to seat lock and 'assignments' not.
For the purposes of seat locking, 'awarded' and 'assigned' are the same thing at this airline. Yes that includes new hires assigned to an aircraft they did not bid for.

A dash FO cannot bid 145 FO (seat lock).
A dash FO CAN upgrade to 145 Captain.
A 145 Captain cannot bid dash Captain (seat lock).
I don't believe they are holding the FOs to a seat lock,
I know guys that were in the mixed classes, forced into the D8 and later awarded ERJ FO.

They haven't been waiving the 30% gate though.

The captains that are assigned D8 or ERJ(I know of at least 2) have a shorter seat lock.

That was probably due to staffing, but they are enforcing the FO seat lock currently. The LOA that was signed basically gives the airline latitude to do whatever they need to ensure coverage. With 6 months of backlog in the ERJ training department, they have recently been keeping the number of FOs lateraling to the ERJ to a minimum.

I haven't heard of anyone being "assigned" to Captain on either airplane.

Does our union put out any regular updates anywhere? I've been here a couple of months and haven't seen hardly anything. It seems like they could do a much better job with communication.

No. You will start getting union emails once every few months or if something else goes wrong. The union is understaffed as it is, so if you have questions it seems easier to ask the appropriate union rep or company official directly.

Default Jumping from 135 to 121

Hey guys so I'm thinking about applying at CommutAir.
Some back ground on me. I'm a 135 cargo pilot fly the 99. Just over 2k flight time. Just wanted to see if CommutAir would be a good regional to start your 121 career at.

With no 121 prior experience, Commutair right now* is probably towards the bottom of the list. It would be selfish to tell you otherwise.

*Until we have a signed deal to replace the D8s, the seniority list is about were it needs to be.
