Morale is low because people come here expecting mainline rules and lifestyle. This is a regional. Those who are from other regionals understand. Those considering leaving C5 for another regional are in for a rude awakening if they do leave. It's best to keep the great seniority as the company continues to grow.
I'll stop there and let those sink in. We have fallen behind our peers in almost every category, and word is spreading fast. We need some major changes and soon.

Other regionals have trip and duty rigs. Other regionals have reserve rules and limits on operational extensions so you aren't abused all year on the line. Other regionals' 401k plans beat ours by more than 800% at year 1.

Life has 3 choices
Life has 3 choices:
Change it, accept it, or leave . . .
The labor (ie. pilots) never have any ‘REAL’ influence over management. Very rarely will you see effective ‘slow downs’ or ‘protests’ or ‘strikes’. Usually it's just pilots grumbling and nothing changes until management wants to make a change.
So there it is. Change isn’t really an option.
CommutAir (and most employers) has 2 choices: Accept it or Leave . . .

A net loss of pilots every month in the foreseeable future means we don't even make it to 40 jets and the company starts entering a graveyard spiral. I think no one here wants to see that happen.
Some of it's possible without a LOA simply with company good faith efforts (trading/sharing/donating hotel rooms, sparing the use of extensions, awarding upgrades despite disruptions in pilot reserves, etc). I would love to see this in the contract, but there are operational needs to consider from the company perspective so it's unlikely to get these in the contract, but it's possible for the company to make some good faith efforts with these.
The union should be looking to negotiate for some LOAs and see what we can get. Some of it's going to take a LOA (pay raises and retention bonuses).

People keep having to fight to remain on the trips they were originally assigned. Scheduling tried to put a crew over 14 hours of duty today on a ground deadhead that would have taken 3 hours. Something like 1.5 hours over the original 14 hour duty day. I haven't spent much time on the line and I'll tell you that I'm already tired of fighting for the meager protections that are in the contract. As a base line you'd think they would adhere to the contract that is already in place... but nope. Let's always make the pilot play "contract lawyer" instead. I didn't sign up for that kind of ****. "Know your contract" shouldn't be a test you have to put up with every damn day you go to work.

ALPA is working to get the cards in order. Pressure is coming from every direction. Improvements are in the works. We'll just have to see if things are shaping up too late to matter.
HercDriver, perhaps I spoke a little out of line on the CPP. I try to keep my BS down to a minimum but I probably stepped in some of it regarding that post. However, the idea that pilots need "privacy" in relation to the CPP is a little crazy don't ya think?
Wasn't my trip I was referring to... I'd rather be here as a lineholder than on reserve backfilling a troll like yourself. Best of luck to you!
