CommutAir Rumors and Info
4 people made lateral moves??? That's 4 people who gave up hoping for improvement. New hire all over again and swapping one set of problems for another (known versus unknown). Bottom of the seniority list, reserve, new hire pay, etc. That's means they just wanted out. When things get that bad it's pretty bad.

I am sorry to sound negative but the more I hear the faster my head spins. So this union won't negotiate against the airline and they don't protect the contract? What in the world are the dues paying for?

Is their signs (actual NOT just verbal) management is INVESTING in the future? Are you guys technologically up to date (iPads, scheduling, bidding, etc). How is mx (lot's of MEL's and cancellations and bandaids)? When the company starts cutting corners and going cheap on things the passengers can't see that's no only 'bad' for right now but also for future.

EFB Planning???
First D8 gets parked this month. 5th 300 gone by October. 200's start 60 days later. Training department planning to be caught up by June. That includes new hires and D8 displacements. EFB's still in planning stages. Might end up with ForeFlight or that Lufthansa deal instead if Jepps. No news on retention bonuses. Class sizes have been smaller than they anticipated. New WB system submitted to FAA. 45-60 days we should get it back.
The bigger take alway for me was IaD isn't expected to grow any more on the ERJ side. 60-65% of the ERJ hours will be out of EWR by June(I think he said)

New WB system? What's wrong with the old one?

We are not operating on the no carry-on w&b system like most other small jet carriers. So in the eyes of the FAA, our bags and passengers weigh more than other airlines' bags and passengers, which causes us to be weight restricted more often than other carriers.

It is hard to describe how bad morale is here right now compared to what it was just 9 months ago. People looking at making lateral moves speaks volumes. The only transparency that exists is for pay and it works out decently. The payroll administrator seems to do his best to ensure accuracy but isn't always correct.
Among other things, there is zero transparency on the CPP and nobody knows what to expect. For round 2 of Hogan exams next year, will the senior people get into the program and push down those already in the program?
The company purposefully hides information about the flow of aircraft and scheduling tries to screw pilots at every turn. The extent to which pilots are required to "know the contract" and fight for everything is asinine. People are tired of fighting. Tired of being junior manned into working on days off. Tired of missing out on nights home with their families over unplanned company BS. Everything is adversarial now. There isn't enough muscle in scheduling or pilot staffing to keep this train wreck going. Why on earth would anyone want to work in scheduling? There simply aren't enough of them to handle the amount of pilots on property.
Reserve rules are virtually non-existent. They used to allow people to "trade" hotel rooms and donate them to one another which had a positive impact on morale. Last I knew, that didn't happen any more. They try to offer 300% pay for people to pick up open time and I'm not sure that is enough to do the trick.
I get the impression that the Union is inundated with complaints and has trouble keeping up with the pilot group growth. Hopefully things get revamped on that front here soon.
