Welcome to the real world. Now people are suffering because their submissive union decided not to negotiate industry standard contracts alongside their peers. Cool people and fast movement are nice, but 6 days straight of airport reserve will make that shine fade really quick. Those highly advertised commuter hotels are useless on reserve since the contract allows them to make everyone sit airport standby for 6 days in a row. And if I hear one more word about our union having a "good relationship" with management, I think I might be sick. If the company really wanted to keep "treating us good", there should have been no problem negotiating that into a contract like everybody else.

I don't mean to be the debbie-downer here, I knew a lot of this going in. But I definitely don't want to hear any excuses.

It was actually 16 ERJ CA spots. Both April and May vancancies were canceled.

The issue right now is they needed to come out with D8 retention bonuses. The Dash is real short on CA and they don't want them bidding to the ERJ. The other issue is, the ERJ has a bunch of guys bidding CA but is also really short on the FO side.
This is a very short term solution that will end horribly for everyone in the next couple of months. The only fix is to Have about 35 people show up to the next class. But without any sort of competiveness that's not going to happen.

You're right, but we were talking about the May bid. But yes, half the upgrades offered this year were cancelled, now including back-to-back classes. So either training is still too far behind or recruiting is to blame. Or both.

Six P's. The only good thing about this is now they are feeling the same pains that every other airline was before they were forced to start making improvements. These days if you want to grow, you are going to have to pay for it. That means recruitment AND retention incentives. This contract will not make anybody want to stay here for long.

Don't forget Feb and Mar IAD CA bids were also rescinded. Both of those were 7 CA spots so they haven't awarded 30 CA spots this year. Gotta get new hires in the door or everything will grind to a halt. If that happens, I could see people start jumping ship for other regionals offering better compensation, better work rules, and better recruiting.

They canceled the IAD and added 11 EWR. That didn't get canceled but I'm not sure if all 11 spots were awarded.

I'm guessing they are trying to carry this until they can start running D8 displacements.
I know 4 guys leaving this and next month as lateral moves. 2 of them are in the CPP.
I just read that they forgot to book the hotel rooms at 2 overnights for the month.

They do not.
It's up to the indivdual pilots to track it by watching the seniority list.
