I hope to god we can pull this off, but I'm not very optimistic at this point. Im actually surprised people are arguing about how many actual airframes we are or aren't suppose to get.....at this point, we're just trying to keep our head above water with the dozen or so that we have.
From what I can see, we have more jet pilots than we do dash pilots. And we have nearly twice as many dash 8s as we do jets. I don't think we are struggling with numbers just yet. But it is taking a long time for those jet pilots to hit the line.

Then why are they calling numerous people on a weekly basis who have told them no to interviewing more than once, as well as inviting back people who have left?? Call it a "slow down" but the name of the game right now is securing pilots. I don't care how backlogged we are, 4,6, 10 pilots a class ain't gonna even keep up with attrition.

Company needs a breather!? No, the company needs to get their heads outta their a$$ and start fixing this crap.

They are taking baby steps in that direction, starting with the increase in referral bonus. It's the cheapest and most ineffective way to get people in the door. But in the today's world people will only show up if they already wanted to. Referral bonuses help motivate the recruiting staff, but won't get more people to come here.

United has had it easy with their regional staffing, but they will have to pony up the cash soon enough just like their competition. The money that American and Delta have invested in their regional staffing efforts is definitely showing results. United can't expect people to rush the door to fly those shiny 76 seat airplanes for $22/hr forever...

I'll be the first person to say they haven't done the best job at getting this going well. However, I'll also give them credit here. They have made changes, apologized for several problems, and yeah, they are taking a breather. That helps. Believe me, my delay in training is the longest I've ever seen and has cost me significant stress and money. It will be eight months from walking in the front door to being on the line.... HOWEVER, I stand by giving the company credit here. They are fixing the problem. And for that, we thank you.

That's the two February classes correct?

The DO told us in the crew room a while back, they are not going to slow down hiring. They would rather pay you to sit at home then lose you to another regional.

If all we could wrangle for February is 8 people, I excpect to see some changes to the bonus structure. Hopefully retention bonuses all around.

Jr line holders DOH for February
D8 Captains are really low on reserves
No reserves for ERJ
D8 FO has a lot of reserve coverage and seems to be stagnate.
March JR line holders.
Lots of changes to both fleets, tons of reported reserve coverage for both seats on ERJ. Waiting for the scheduling email to explain whats going on.

Its a miracle- we might actually have reserves, fly our schedules, and the line won't be a total mess next month?

EWR Dash reserve looks short next month, much less than this month.

My guess is they dumped as many hours as possible on the dash.
