At the time of the ERJ announcement they were at 8.5 pilots per plane.
8.5*40 = 340

So are they going to hire to eventually furlough? They are going to have more than 40 aircraft on property at some point, many have said on this thread 600 pilots, where is that number coming from?

That number is coming from the CEO. He told many of us in person more than once that there will be 61 jets at C5. 40 additional plus 21 to replace each dash. I haven't seen this in writing anywhere though.

The overlap isn't very long. Attrition will cover it. Worst case is they stop hiring for about 6 months starting spring of 18.
This is also a mute point if we can get the much talked about 20 additional erjs, but until it's formally announced it's just a crew room rumor.

Lol, no. At the time of the announcement, we were around 170 pilots. Those were dark days.

He's not very far off.. 8.5 x 21 = 178.

He's saying that with 40 airplanes instead of 21 we would have around 340 pilots, historically.

It's a moot point. Not mute.

It was in a letter that the CEO sent out through the Chief pilot on Jan 7th. Unfortunately, some just don't want to believe what was written.

Growth Plan: As we have always said, given our special status as a United Express affiliate, our growth plan, to 61 aircraft and beyond, is in our hands.
This memo was written well after he announced the One for One trade of the dash for jets. So for those that want to play with numbers, try using 61 as the aircraft number.
