Upgrade during Indoc if you're willing to fly the Dash. Right now the 145 CA spots are not going to new hires.
Expect to sit around during training if you get the 145. I'm a November class hire and have sims scheduled end of April. I expect as the 145 training program matures, they'll work out the slowdowns and the sit time will go away. The 145s have been on property for less than a year and like anything new is experiencing growing pains. The Dash training program is flowing smoothly.

You get hired and then bid in Indoc. There is a mix of 145/Dash slots based on company need.

No idea on the 145 because they just opened the EWR 145 base. The Dash FOs have gotten choice of base.

Doesn't sound too bad. Making base pay, benefits, and flight privileges, while driving a car? Shweeeet! Did they give you a date/location for sim?

But on the other hand, I think the recent hires at CommutAir are hungry. The classes lately haven't been flight instructors getting on with their first 121. It's been a bunch of 121/135/corp jet guys looking for 121 TPIC time and moving onto a major. Sitting around isn't what they signed up for.

Yes and no. It's undeniably great having a paid vacation.

It will pick up. With the addition of the recent check airmen, cvg sim, reduction in flying, and more training department hiring to come.....once we push through this back log, things should smooth out rather quickly. My understanding is that we have the number of pilots on property, it's just a matter of getting them online. A much better situation to be in than a lot of other regionals that can't staff....now we have to hope we can keep them coming.
