You get hired and then bid in Indoc. There is a mix of 145/Dash slots based on company need.

Upgrade during Indoc if you're willing to fly the Dash. Right now the 145 CA spots are not going to new hires.

No idea on the 145 because they just opened the EWR 145 base. The Dash FOs have gotten choice of base.

Expect to sit around during training if you get the 145. I'm a November class hire and have sims scheduled end of April. I expect as the 145 training program matures, they'll work out the slowdowns and the sit time will go away. The 145s have been on property for less than a year and like anything new is experiencing growing pains. The Dash training program is flowing smoothly.

Wow! Very good insight. I certainly appreciate the response!

Doesn't sound too bad. Making base pay, benefits, and flight privileges, while driving a car? Shweeeet! Did they give you a date/location for sim?

Yes and no. It's undeniably great having a paid vacation.

But on the other hand, I think the recent hires at CommutAir are hungry. The classes lately haven't been flight instructors getting on with their first 121. It's been a bunch of 121/135/corp jet guys looking for 121 TPIC time and moving onto a major. Sitting around isn't what they signed up for.

Yeah, I imagine it's a bit rough/boring just waiting. It'll happen, and soon enough, CommutAir will be flying the crap out of you. I flew with a guy the other day, brand new, flew boxes for a 135. You should have seen him, just about as happy as anyone could get. He kept saying, he couldn't believe he finally made it to the plane.... So, hang in there!!... Hopefully, with the addition in simulators in CVG, the adjustment to Check airman schedules, and a couple other tweaks, the bottle neck will open up very soon.

It will pick up. With the addition of the recent check airmen, cvg sim, reduction in flying, and more training department hiring to come.....once we push through this back log, things should smooth out rather quickly. My understanding is that we have the number of pilots on property, it's just a matter of getting them online. A much better situation to be in than a lot of other regionals that can't staff....now we have to hope we can keep them coming.

Default Question about Uniforms

What's the company policy on pilot sweaters? It can get cold in the Northeastern part of the United States.

They're fine with them, it's no issue.
