Looks like growth hiring and quick upgrades are over. No jet upgrades for new hires. Still a great place but don't expect too much. If you get in now expect to be at the bottom of the seniority list for quite some time.

Why do you say that ? If the numbers were 346- the loss of 20 that equals 326+ the 15 in DEC class 341 net loss of 5 and still receiving 1 Jet every 3 weeks . My numbers were taken from the posts on this page, so feel free to correct me if I am missing something.

Why "bottom of the seniority list for quite some time"? Did they cancel the options?

Too much expansion too quick. They've got a ton of jet guys in the training pipeline - senior dash guys are moving over to the jet - and the dash's are going to start going away. I predict they can't keep hiring guys to sit around waiting in the training line. They need to stop hiring for the next few months just to handle the training backlog. This is just speculation but wait and see what happens with the current class. I wouldn't be surprised if the next few new hire classes were scaled back in frequency and then went all Dash. That would allow them to address the jet training backlog and also handle the senior guys transitioning to the jet.

Last I heard they were putting new hires with qualified time right into the left seat of the ERJ. Has that changed? I was considering jumping ship and joining Commutair. Can anyone confirm what newbies should expect? I have no interest in Dash and I don't want EWR. Have things changed over there?

If you come as a DEC you will be on reserve for a long time. (Reserve rules are less than 1 page in the CBA, and its the worst in the industry ). QOL for people coming starting in December will not be great.
We are at 340 pilots now.
C5 late last year before the ERJs came was running around 9.0 pilots per AC.
We are going to be a 40 airplane company. Thats 360 total pilots needed. They need to get the option for 20 more ERJ signed and announced ASAP.
Anyone who says we are going to be 600 pilots is assuming we already have that option signed, and that we are going to go to 10/ AC.
The real question is how many dashes will be flying after we take the 40th ERJ and have not signed the option for 20. That ends in Furloughs.
I don't mean to sound like a downer, but the gravy train here is definitely leaving the station unless things change.

Just great. I'm in the Jan 3 class. Hope I'm not making a bad decision to make the move. Doesn't sound very convincing here. I'd rather stay where I'm at versus a chance to get no upgrade and possibly furloughed.

The ERJ is only based in IAD. Depends on your age in class, but most are still being trained in the ERJ. If you want a fast track to being online and if you qualify for CA, then should bid the Dash CA (for others reading this thread).
The ERJ Training does have a backlog in the school house right now, but you will be paid from day one the 75 hours / month at $36 an hour, even if you are home sitting on your butt for a month.

NO. That is not correct. C5 is getting 40 erj's as the original agreement. They have an option for at another 20 more per the original agreement with UA.
UA since the original announcement has given C5 additional ERJ's to replace the dash's. These additional jets have nothing to do with the extra 20 or the original 40 planes. C5 will end up with at least 81 ERJ's if the option is acted upon.
This info comes from the CEO during his presentation to the new hires and is not in any public announcement.
