1. It might be a typo but we are trying to take delivery of 3 a month soon. So, it might be correct.
3. Correct, the 30% rule only applies to displacements and the number of available bidding spots for incumbent pilots, per company choice. Going forward, the company will likely waive seat locks to fill ERJ deliveries. FOs are not subject to any seat lock implied when upgrading.
4. If you are sharp and have a good work ethic, you can upgrade into an aircraft with zero time with minimal issues. It can and has been done, but it is a lot of work. On the positive side, they give you 10 sims before checkride and GFS before that; that is an absurd amount of training.

We are getting 40 a/c plus the dash swap a/c. We will be getting 61 total ERJ's plus the possible 20 extension.

Negative, there was a miscommunication. The ERJs are replacing the Dash but they are not in addition to the 40 announced. The 20 options have not been exercised yet. They are just saving the ammo when they need it.

Call David, Norma or Joey they should have answers to your questions. To my understanding. 1. Yes, 7 FO slots for current C5 Pilots. 2. I think it's a typo, update preference by 1 December for a February class date. (Similar to the DHC-8 wording) 3. To my limited understanding Seat lock, if you bid for the DHC-8 in new hire, then you are seat locked. If you bid ERJ and did not get it, and end up in the DHC-8 then you are free to bid off subject to the 30% rule in the contract. 4. Do what you think best for your personal situation, never upgrade unless you are comfortable and confident.

I found out I'm not seat locked because I never bid for the dash... I guess I was just stuck in it. So, what's the process of making the switch? Do I just update my preference and wait for a call? Is there anyway to find out ahead of time if there are 7 more in front of me?
On that page you can see everyone's requests. You just need to count and see if you can hold it.
You also need to figure out who was awarded classes that haven't started yet as they will still be listed under original equipment until they start class. There is much room for improvement in the IT here at C5

Just to clarify:
- We are accepting delivery of 40 ERJs
- Dash aircraft will begin to retire late 2017
- There is a verbal agreement for 20 more ERJs, that may or may not be exercised in the near future
Regardless, the fleet size will double, even if we retire the Dash fleet in its entirety. Attrition from the CPP is coming from the top (mostly Dash CAs), and on top of that we have people going other places.
Barring some tragic turn, it is still a great time to get in on the front of the wave.
IMO - If you are new to 121, and don't have 121 CA qualifying hours, do not make a silly decision like waiting for the jet instead of the Dash. You will lose out on precious seniority; and in all honesty, who cares what you fly as an FO - the rates are the same. You'll probably have better QOL has a Dash FO anyway. We are severely short-staffed on the jet FO side, and those guys are flying their butts off.

That is true. But. Big but. If we are only going to be a 40 airplane company then Jan will be the last growth class. The rest will be for attrition or to cover while we park dashes. The seniority list is almost double now of what it was before the jet announcement.
