So you're saying paid "vacation" for several months is a bad thing? Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

If you are bidding for EWR or the Dash in IAD, you will not be that delayed. If you bid the ERJ in IAD, you will have a month or so off with nothing to do. You will get paid 2700 a month ($36 at 75 hours) while you do nothing. You will also have the bonus check before you start class (up to $15,000).

It's a great move for anyone headed to C5 right now. They have a little growing pain due to United taking some of the instructors and check airman and also due to the 2 new planes hitting the line every month.

To each their own. For those of us who were expecting to actually work and get paid, and with a mortgage, and a family, it isn't a good thing.

You may see things differently right now, good for you, maybe at some point in your life do you understand the difference.

So are you saying that you were expecting to make more than minimum guarantee right off the bat? Or are you saying that you expected to upgrade to Captain right away, even though we don't have direct entry Captains (nor do we advertise as such)? Unless you were promised anything else, your misgivings towards C5 is totally misplaced.

I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall. I have no misgivings towards CommutAir. I understand the nature of training backlogs, but I also didn't expect to be waiting for 6+ months to fly the line. When did I say anything about direct entry captain? However, yes, I did expect to upgrade right out of training, considering that's what I was told during my interview, by the recruiters, and during my on boarding. I did upgrade directly out of training as it is. I am happy about that. I expected to be making more than minimum guarantee much sooner than six months.

Your sense of entitlement baffles me. Obviously this is not your first rodeo at an airline so certainly you should know better than to take recruiters at face value. And to have the audacity to complain after having received an upgrade more or less out of the gate is astounding. Had you stayed put where you were, where would you be right now?

I have a plan that will allow me to survive the lean times, I have been there before and I survived just fine. Is it an ideal situation to be in ? Maybe not, but I believe this company will grow and like anything else there will be some growing pains. I do believe it will get better and in the scheme of it all it is a balance of acceptable pay and QOL.
