I'd think that the flow is a moving target much like upgrade. For example pilot A gets hired at 0 122 or PIC time. He does interview and goes on flow list. Pilot B walks it with 500 prior military time or already having the 1000 sic needed for upgrade. Pilot B upgrades 8-12 months before pilot A just because he is qualified at the time. If flow time comes up and pilot A doesn't have the 1000PIC with CA then they pass him by and pick pilot B. At least this is how it was explained to me so if I am wrong please tell me.

Also if it is really 3-4 years I see a lot of people quitting when that number becomes known. The recruiting staff is telling people as soon as you get your year/1000 hours PIC that you will flow very soon after.

Just to add, as I am just stating what was shared with me By Myrna R. She said (in the Pilot A example), 0 to little 121 time/TPIC, you can expect to flow to United in 3-4 years. This is of course you're admitted to the CPP. There is no automatic flow once you arrive @ your 1000 121 time, total time is also a factor, United will expect you to have ~4000 TT if not more to be competitive with other hires.
As you know, it's not guaranteed, United can change their mins based on their needs.
IMHO, expecting to flow when one arrives @ 1000 121 time is not a realistic outlook.

It is all about supply and demand .... very dynamic and can change any direction daily ...

West Coast guy here. Thinking about doing the Commutair thing. Any idea how long reserve times are looking to be? As much as I love sitting reserve living in base, I'm not so sure how much I'll enjoy it after a 6 hour commute.

Reserve or Not a 6 hour commute to a regional airline is going to SUCK!! I'd move or look for something on the West Coast.

I also heard that you have to have "United Minimums" but they didn't say exactly what that was. I think it is a different "minimum" than United actually uses to hire off the street. The person I spoke to made it sound like flowing up at 2500 total time probably wouldn't happen and you would need to be competitive to get it.

Little to no reserve time now at all. I'd be shocked if you did more than a month.
