On another more positive note, Jan 4 class and I already got my 15k bonus check fedex yesterday!
Do you get another attempt? Either way, you're in a good position to build some experience at the regional level with them. The pay was way too low when I went through but is better now, so it's still a good choice.

I'm in the January class and fine with the Dash. But thinking about the 2020 mandate for ADS-B and these airplanes. Is the Dash a dead end at C5? Are they gonna update 21 Dash 8's or just dump them and go all ERJ? If so - that kinda sucks as I'll probably be just getting to the upgrade point when the lease runs out in 2018 and then have to start all over again at the bottom.

I'm curious to see what's going to happen to the Dash flying as well. What's the duration of those agreements? I understand the ERJ is a 5 year deal.

The current contracts go until the winter of 2017 and spring of 2018. I believe the Q300s are until the spring of 2018. The 145s are currently cheaper to operate since the leases are so cheap and the price of oil is low. The cost advantage that the dash brings in fuel is no longer significant, so it's very possible that the 145s could replace the dash come the end of their contract. We do have an option for 20 more 145s in 2018 after the initial 40 come online, those could be intended to replace the 21 dash 8s we have.

If oil goes back to 110 levels, the dash may stay. It will also depend on who's flying in EWR. The route segments in EWR are much shorter overall than IAD, so the initial placement of the 145 there makes sense.

A lot of variables, only United knows at this point.
