We can thank the ASA rejects for that one...their sick calls drove our planes to go to skywest. I blame all our short comings and losses on those whiny bastards. I bet UAL selected commutair because of them too. They knew XJT wasnt going to be able to get rid of the lead weights unless they fired them, and they couldn't. So congrats to the lifers at ASA...you were always the thorn in our side. Advise EVERYONE at C5 to avoid hiring anyone with 'ASA' in their resume.
We lost the 175 cause from a mgmt perspective it made sense. TSA was imploding we could absorb TSA and C5 who could barely staff 35 of 60 promised 145s and become a near200 aircraft fleet (straight from the MEC email about the agreement in principle right before covid). Short sighted from xjt mgmt but then they are literally just UAL instruments "mutually agreed shutdown".

Mesa is only getting 175’s because they’re leasing the 700’s out for conversion. Once that is complete, there are no more available 175’s. If United were to actually order a new NB type, it would allow up to 70 more 76 seaters, but I’d bet that SkyWest, Mesa, or Republic would offer to buy the jets and fly them under long contracts for United. Maximizing those additional 76 seaters would also require a large number of 50 seaters to be retired, as well as significantly restrict available UAX block hours. I’d expect SkyWest to be the most aggressive in getting those jets since they are going to take such a big hit when the 200’s are eventually phased out. United has been consistent in their opposition to another fleet type, and we have zero input, so this is really just an internet game of what if.
Edit: United doesn’t need a trick up their selves for the 50 seaters. They can have as many as they want providing that UAX block remains less than UAL NB hours. They want to eliminate the 145 and 200 fleet and add a bunch of 175’s, but they want to do it without having to pay a price. Until Kirby decides what he wants to do, the 50 seat fleet continues to age and the backlog of possible replacement aircraft continues to grow.

Your experience is just that, yours. It doesnt work for everyone. I watched people get sent home from XJT training and some barely make it through. All these check events stay on your record and thats not something I would be willing to jeopardize. If youre not a C5 pilot right meow, how do you know what breaks we will get during sims... either way training here will be different if you read what Jacburn had to say.
Not picking on WhatsV1 at all. I just know that he can give an accurate account since he is in class and I want to make sure everyone is aware that we are pushing pilots through our system with very little days off right now. If you can't afford to be gone and have family issues right now, please stay home and take care of them. You won't need CASS or KCM until after training.

Just for the record, there was never a plan to merge C5 with anyone. Not Expressjet, TSA or anyone else.
On another note, C5 was having no trouble recruiting people, it was retention that was the problem. We were losing Capts to JetBlue and United. We were even losing low time FOs to Allegiant/Frontier and even some ACMIs.

Going back to my previous statements about going home on the weekends, how many scheduled days off do you have each week during training? And since class ends at 5:30 and the last bank of flights out of IAD is at 5-6PM, what is the possibility of making it home and back for that 1 day off?

I’m currently in training at C5 and you have very little time off with long days. It’s better to just stay where you’re at and focus on completing training. Also, if you do get a good chunk of time off like I did over the holidays you get positive space to and from home.

Sundays are off days and thats it, making it home probably isnt in the cards right now. I have an experienced class so if one of them went home during a few day break(if and when we get one), I wouldnt see it hurting them really. However, its somewhat controlled chaos to run through this and get us to the line. Not one person will complain though, we are all happy to be here, have a job and be in this position with C5. All the C5 people in the building have been great and instructors will meet with your class after the long day to help answer any questions.

the packet given is inaccurate. The QRC (memory items) has changed several times since the beginning of the year. The manuals have more limitations now that the LRs are coming. Just a heads up.
