Such a positive, helpful comment based on so many assumptions. I doubt any airline has very many CFI‘s in the new hire classes these days.

Yes, people are so entitled wanting to be able to visit their family over a 2-3 month period. Obviously earning the prestigious rank of First Officer at C5 is far more important than the stupid title of "husband," or "father."

2-3 months? Ground school is less than a month then you go home for some time before sims, which are a little over 2 weeks. The hyperbole is unnecessary.

Some airlines activate CASS during training, some do not. C5 does not.

Pretending that airline pilot is a career highly conducive to enjoying above average time with your family is absurd. The question was asked and answered, perhaps we can move on to other questions for which potential new hires might wish answers.

Oh yeah, I am sure the people who got sent home from class because of covid were all pilots with prior experience.... I have seen more than one pilot sent home because they were going home every chance they got and then that's exactly where they went when unable to finish training. A few weeks is nothing to worry about and I would suggest to keep your head in training if your going to a new aircraft or are a CFI. Dont worry about the little things in this environment, a class date at this company right now offers great potential for pilots. Take what I said how you want but this is very positive.

This is not the most educated comment on here! Seriously? No.

A first officer at C5 right this moment has more potential than any other airline with the growth in front of the company. No one said it is more important but for the long run at this moment, its right up there. We all know this job requires sacrifices here and there, if youre not okay with that than maybe it isnt for you. With that being said, this job also offers plenty of benefits for pilots and their families as well. Plus, you get to fly for a living, whats better than that?

well thanks for the advice, but I would suggest being careful with assumptions. I’m actually flying for an ACMI carrier at the moment, but I absolutely hate the job, and have thought about applying to CommutAir since I live near one of the hubs. I do have a family that is important to me, hence the question, and much of my dislike of my current job. I am typed on the 145 from a previous carrier, so I’m not particularly worried about training.

So as someone said let’s move on.

If you can't be away from your family for a month during initial training, you might want to re-evaluate your career choice.
