Default CPP Process

Hi Everyone,

Current corporate guy, looking to get back into the 121 world and have some questions regarding the United CPP program at Commutair for folks that have been through the process.

- Are there any training delays, what is the current average time from indoc to IOE?

- You must have flown either 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command or 3,000 hours total in service to CommutAir. What is the average time for a new hire DEC to accumulate 1000 hours? I would be living in base
- Successfully complete an interview with a representative of United Airlines and the United Job Fit Assessment administered by Hogan Assessments. Is this similar to a regular pilot interview in which you complete an HR portion with a HR rep and Pilot, followed by a Tech portion or just sit down with a CPP administrator?

- Must receive a “Recommend” for hire by the United CPP Administrator and United’s Pilot Selection Board, after completing a final performance review. I apologize for my ignorance, but what does all of this mean?

I have spent months scrolling through this forum, and as I am sure you all know there are some good reviews of flying at Commutair and some not so good ones?

- Is the $45,000 really fully paid out prior to start of training?
- How is scheduling and QOL?
- How is the overall quality of the 145’s?
- What’s the average take home pay for a year 1 and 2 CA?

I know its a lot, but thanks for all of your time and help!

My question to add to that is, of the 28 Commutair pilots in 2018 hired onto United via the CPP, what percentage is that of the ones who were fully qualified? What are the issues for the folks getting the “thanks, but no thanks letter”?

Since there seems to be other regionals with a UAL CPP program and some are only pumping out a very small %

Is basically the CPP just a “guaranteed hogan” test opportunity? If you don’t pass Hogan the first time,is there a 2nd shot?

- Are there any training delays, what is the current average time from indoc to IOE? 3 months from day one until off of IOE. The current group going through was delayed a couple of weeks due to the Fed shut down.

- You must have flown either 1,000 hours as Pilot-in-Command or 3,000 hours total in service to CommutAir. What is the average time for a new hire DEC to accumulate 1000 hours? I would be living in base Should be able to complete it in 1.5 years from completion of IOE.

We do not have to do the tech portion in the CPP program. We only do the Hogan and HR interview

- Must receive a “Recommend” for hire by the United CPP Administrator and United’s Pilot Selection Board, after completing a final performance review. I apologize for my ignorance, but what does all of this mean? All of your information is looked at one more time before giving you the class date. This review includes CommutAir employee files to make sure you didn't do anything stupid.

I have spent months scrolling through this forum, and as I am sure you all know there are some good reviews of flying at Commutair and some not so good ones? Most of the bad reviews are from a couple of years ago or the ExpressJet guys posting our thread.

- Is the $45,000 really fully paid out prior to start of training? Yes, it is required by the pilots contract.
- How is scheduling and QOL? QOL is the weakest part of the current contract. It is doable though.
- How is the overall quality of the 145’s? They are still in good shape. They have less MEL's on them than when SkyWest took over XJT years ago, if they have any at all.
- What’s the average take home pay for a year 1 and 2 CA? Someone else will have to answer this one.

I know its a lot, but thanks for all of your time and help!

Yes. This is a great opportunity for those of us that had an application in for years and never got the Hogan invite.

My question is.....

Let's say you get those hours in 1.5 years. How long will it take to flow in seniority order.

Nobody but the CPP administrator knows. There is no list and no info published. We don’t even know how many people are actually enrolled in the CPP. Zero transparency...

Default CPP is NOT what it seems

Don’t do the CPP. A bunch of us went there with plenty of her time and experience but only about 1 out of 10 actually go in the program. Of those that got in - they play all sorts of games delaying your progress. They make you fly as a Captain qualified first officer, they take away your flying and make you sit reserve. What should take 18 months to get to the 1,000 hours in the left seat will easily take 24+.

We all left. I know a handful of folks still there waiting but it’s not looking good. Don’t do it!!!!!
