I’m waiting until November schedule awards come out today to update.

I’d say we’re averaging around 8 new hires every 1.5 weeks.

We have 12 upgrades for November. 9 of them are on the message board where you got the 4/6/2018 from. 3 of the upgrade positions are new hires currently in class in IAD. The most junior CA is a student with a 10/4/2018 hire date.

Last I heard we were supposed to have 14 new hires starting today.
And 20 split up between the two November classes

Jr CA lineholder is incorrect as of November. EWR is going to be a constantly shifting target.

Yea. My bad.

Things are moving so quick around here as compared to only half a year ago when I started this thread.

Crew planning asked for 6 upgrades in December. They were only able to award 4. Now they are asking for 20 in January.

I dont even want to start about how they're gonna award CQF. If they're upgrading people who start in class then those guys will be CQFs, but by the time they get out of training they'll be above the 5% threshold and will actually be full Captains.

And for those curious, heres what our CBA says about CQFs:

Captain Qualified First Officers (“CQFs”)

a. In order to alleviate a temporary status imbalance the Company may designate as CQF no more than the most junior five percent (5%) of captains, using traditional rounding.

b. The Company shall not require a pilot to be a CQF for more than a total of twelve (12) months.

c. A CQF is eligible to bid a reserve line or a first officer line of flying.

d. A CQF who bids a reserve line shall be paid as a captain at the appropriate rate for his longevity for all service performed during the bid period. A CQF who bids a first officer line of flying shall be paid as a first officer at the appropriate rate for his longevity for all service performed as a first officer during the bid period. A CQF shall be paid at the appropriate captain rate for his longevity when he serves as a captain notwithstanding his bid.

e. A CQF may request to remain a CQF for a subsequent period beyond the twelve-month limitation set forth in paragraph 24.A.2.b., above, by providing written notice to the Director of Operations at least thirty days before the end of the preceding CQF period.

I just want to add a note to this statement for anyone reading this thread.

They were only able to award 4 due to the current pilots not having the required 121 hours or pilots turning down the upgrade.

We are still upgrading the 6 even though only 4 are on the current seniority list. The other 2 will come from a new hire class and even though we do not have a direct entry captain program, we are hiring direct entry captains.
