A few questions about CPP. Anyone know the approximate recent pass rate percentage on both the hogan and the interview? How long does it take to get the interview as a new hire if you pass Hogan after IOE? Are there any hogan test prep companies out there?

Thanks in advance.
I don’t know about the rates, but heard they have improved. I was able to take the Hogan before Indoc. I still have not done the interview because United stoped interviews for the summer. We received an email just this week stating interviews were starting again. I was told by the CPP person at United when I received my Hogan results, the interview has to be completed within 6 months of completing IOE since I started the process before Indoc. I don’t know the time frame if you start the process after training.

It is advisable to get some line experience before the interview depending on the background of your friends.

Thanks for the info. Best of luck on your interview, hope to see you here at UAL soon.

Hello CA,

I currently work for (Envoy F/O ORD base) and I'm considering making a lateral move to CommutAir for a better QOL. How long can one expect to be on reserve as a Captain (2018 hire)? Are the reserve captains flying a lot nowadays or can you expect hours of airport appreciation? Finally, what does the typical reserve schedule look like for the month (i.e..5 on 2 off)

My plan is to complete FO training and immediately thereafter place my bid in for captain upgrade. I'm ok having to wait for 3-4months before upgrading. Gives me a chance to learn the operation

Thanks in advance,

There's no QoL here. Double think why you would want to come here if you expect QoL.

You would likely be a reserve captain for a year or two as a DEC. You might also be stuck as a CQF depending on how many captains are below you.

They'll fly you a decent bit on reserve (expect 50+ hours a month).

I was under the impression that Envoy was basically forcing upgrades? Why would you give up your seniority to upgrade elsewhere? If you come here and are awarded CA in a couple months you can expect to be on reserve for a couple years as the rest of the seniority list will upgrade in front of you eventually. Reserve will always be 8 hours at the airport. Typical 5 on/2 off with 11 days off/month. Also if you do upgrade immediately you will most certainly be CQF where they will use you primarily as an FO while sitting CA reserve.

Stay at envoy. Whatever reserve rules they have there are better than C5. You're likely to start at 5am the first day and be released at 9pm the last day, and it's all airport reserve 8 hour shifts. If you get used, it will more than likely be right seat, and you're looking at years to hold a line as CA if you're a street CA. Stay at envoy with your guaranteed flow.

Leaving United TK (United mainline training center) today after recurrent sims. Word here is 80 pilots a month indefinitely including Summer. If true (be careful - TK always a rumor mill so take it for what its worth) should mean more CPP pilots since we’ve (UAL) been barely hiring last few years. Best of luck to you guys moving up and onward.
