Charters II
This applies to Kalitta Charters II. 45,000 is base salary plus load pay which is 200 dollars per load/unload. I average 3 to 5 load pays a month. Schedule for DC9 crews is 9 days on 9 days off. Overtime pay is 2.5 hours or actual flight time and is paid above guarantee. DC9 crews do not get to use the condos and are responsible for their own crash pad. Our DC9's are very well taken care of and Doug Kalitta is a really good guy to work for. He takes care of his people. As an example, when our DC9 went in for a "C Check" which lasted 3 months, Doug kept everyone on full pay while we sat home. Unfortunately, we just hired two new FO's for the new aircraft that came online and there is very little movement on the 9.

Any current info on Kalitta 2 727 operations would be great! Current QOL and hiring plans. Also do they hire you as an FE or as an FO on 727? Do you need internal rec or is a good résumé with lots of pic time and several type ratings (no 727 type) enough?

727 no mins... Hired as a fe... Prefer heavy time ... Prefer 3000 plus total 1000 jet..... Basically it's a personality job if the do likes you or not.....qol is ok, home based, hiring in the fall.

Any chances of moving up from the f.e. seat? Or are you expected to be a P.F.E?

Probably have to spend 6 months to a year in the back seat, if hired as a Flight Engineer. If you have your 1500 hours and ATP, you get a sim evaluation ride, and up-grade. Some hiring is done right into the right seat. Last group of Flight Engineers appears to be PFE's, who do not have the interest in up-grading. Not home based unless you live in Detroit and consider that your home.

what is upgrade time from fo to capt on either the 9 or the 72??
Does the airline furlough much if so how long do the furloughs usally last??
Can one expect a furlough after the christmass rush if you are a new guy?
And lastly, if furloughed would you be offered a job flying one of the lears on the charters one side??
Also how much overtime can you get amonth?? I know it depends on seniority but is there OT to be had by new guys??
Apologies for my ignorance.
