Fedex Corporate Jets?
Morning all,
In past years I have seen Fedex corporate jets; I recall seeing CL-601’s and perhaps LR-45’s. Can anyone educate me on the status of corporate jets being used, type, amount of and the road usually traveled to fly them?

Bases are PIT (1 LR-45), DAL (1 LR-45), HRO (Harrison AR, 2 LR-45), and the rest are in MEM.
The road to getting hired is just like any corporate job; Make contacts in the dept, get a resume in, and stay in touch.
They will tell you a type rating in one of these aircraft is not required; but I think it helps.
Once called for an interview, the process is exactly the same as being hired for the FedEx line.

From what I know, there are currently two "new hires" sitting in the pool waiting for class dates on the Lear. They've been there since last fall, so I wouldn't expect any interviewing any time soon.
It's also worth noting that the corporate operation is kept totally separate from the line operation. Corp pilots can transfer over to the line after a set period of time (2 yrs I think). They do not hold seniority numbers, and currently don't have any travel/jumpseat privileges (at least last I heard).

Thanks- I knew it was something like that. My question is, how many people actually make the jump to the line? Seems like most would probably stay on the corporate side... not as much money, but seems like they get treated pretty well and have decent QOL...

I was one of them; It mostly runs along lines of age, from my opinion. The older guys stay at Corp, the younger ones come to the line in general. There are of course exceptions...
