That's what I believe he's saying: They may been UPS pilots but they were not IPA members.
They are neither. On the UPS side, these guys were hired directly into so-called management positions with flight qualified Captain status. The only time they fly is for currency, during training events or, "ding, ding, ding!!!!," when union line pilots strike or honor another's strike. You can easily deduct the quality of candidate seeking these positions, they sure aren't getting calls from any of the majors-integrity issues maybe??? Otherwise, we don't have any non dues paying guys flying the line (I was told).

Fedex has 45 non-members. 34 of them don't pay dues.

Out of 4400 pilots......

Not the same.

The non union "mgt " pilots at UPS do not operate under the seniority system, or any contract, cannot hire or fire, and can NEVER join the union. When they hired on into that position they agreed to cross any picket line or SCAB whenever and wherever UPS told them too. UPS has around 140-180 of them out of 2,500.

Its worth noting that in over 20-25 years NO IPA Captain has ever joined "mgt".

The one UPS MD11 flown during the strike was flown by a management crew. The other was flown by a European contractor Star, but that's not the end of an otherwise great story.

A FDX 777 flew CGN-MEM DURING THE STRIKE.

FX5225 left CGN while the picket lines were up and IPA pilots were honoring a legal picket line.

Well done IPA. So does FDX have NURPs now, or what? Apparently by definition they do now. I guess picket lines only matter to some these days...lovely. But you've got an excellent magazine.

You've said you were a UPS guy in past posts, so...You're either a manager stirring the pot, an absolute idiot in the IPA or a troll with nothing better to do.

Pick one.

UPS pilots honor German picket lines at Cologne Bonn Airport, ground 16 flights

WHAS11, Independent Pilots Association , WHAS 10:28 AM. CDT April 27, 2016

Louisville – Approximately 80 members of the Independent Pilots Association (UPS pilots) working in Cologne, Germany are honoring the picket lines of ver.di at the Cologne Bonn airport. The strike is scheduled to last 24 hours after beginning at midnight local Germany time Tuesday night.

“Ver.di, which represents the ground staff at the Cologne Bonn airport, has asked the IPA to withhold our services as pilots during their 24 hour strike,” said IPA President, Captain Robert Travis. “We will honor their strike and not cross the ver.di picket lines.”

It is estimated that the ver.di strike will impact about sixty UPS flights into and out of the Cologne Bonn airport.

“Last week we opened our strike center in anticipation of a potential strike of UPS by our pilots. Now, less than a week later, we are operating the strike center in support of our German co-workers,” said Travis. “We will demonstrate our solidarity with our co-workers in Germany, and we are confident they will support us, should that time come.”

As a result of crewmembers withholding their labor, the following sixteen UPS flights were grounded Tuesday night:

UPS Flt 232 CGN to East Midlands Airport

UPS Flt 244 CGN to London Stansted Airport

UPS Flt 284 CGN to Malmö Sturup Airport

UPS Flt 256 CGN to Madrid Barajas International Airport

UPS Flt 218 CGN to Charles de Gaulle International Airport

UPS Flt 292 CGN to Malmö Sturup Airport

UPS Flt 242 CGN to Barcelona International Airport

UPS Flt 236 CGN to London Stansted Airport

UPS Flt 294 CGN to Ruzyně International Airport

UPS Flt 260 CGN to Venezia / Tessera - Marco Polo Airport

UPS Flt 282 CGN to Stockholm-Arlanda Airport

UPS Flt 274 CGN to Vienna International Airport

UPS Flt 4 CGN to Warsaw Chopin Airport

UPS Flt 10 CGN to Dubai International Airport

UPS Flt 240 CGN to Philadelphia International Airport

UPS Flt 14 CGN to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport

The only UPS flight that did take off overnight out of Cologne Bonn was flight 208 CGN to Newark, which was flown by three UPS management pilots (i.e., non-IPA crewmembers).

The ver.di strike will remain in effect until 6:00PM EDT.

We applaud you guys. This will have a direct effect on other freight shippers thinking. Big yellow only has 4 of their acmi carriers taking strike votes. Wonder how comfy management is today.

Settle down, Skippy. Keep your eye on the ball.

Just setting up my fellow pilots not in the know to understand what it means to be a "mgt pilot" at UPS. Are these "mgt pilots" not in fact scabs for operating that flight out of CGN?

Brilliant, illegal job action while in contract negotiations. How soon before UPS fires the 16 crews?
