That particular sim bay has a certain smell to it of hot electrical parts and old hot hydraulic fluid that triggers certain nightmares in my brain every time I walk through it.

The ABX DC-8 was certified for three engine, hand flown CAT II. Not with two engines out.

You are right. VERY distinctive smell to it. It was at it's height when Ufford and the Aryan brotherhood ran DC-8 flight standards.

Thanks for the suggestions, planning on using my 737 200 old days flying skills.

[QUOTE=Jason605;2113021]That's gonna be a trip. They told me that I "may" fly the sim. I'll assume that if I don't get to fly it, that I probably tanked the panel interview.

Any insight into the panel portion?[/QUOTE
Great assumption. No sim- no offer!

Seriously 10 minutes!!!! The other part of the app is work history and yes or no questions I dont think I missed those!!!!
This happened to anybody else....?
Fly safe
I can only think of 4 gotchas.

1) How much fixed wing time do you have ?

2) You have a medical that says "First Class", but you let it run to 12 months due to present position not requiring it. (Part 91 King Air gig ?) Also, if you're <40, HR may not have reset parameters to allow for this recent new reality. (First Class good for 12 months age<40.)

3) Your passport expires in < 3 years. I don't understand the 3 year internal requirement, but it is there on website

4) One of the yes or no questions was "I have difficulty making decisions." If you left the answer blank, that might present a problem.

Otherwise, I'd resubmit. Good luck.

Can someone specify for me, please, if offered position with ABX but not living in CVG and not willing to relocate, how will that work with present or future schedule?
Are any reserve lines and if, do you have to buy your own hotel in CVG?
I understand the only base is CVG but does the company help the commuters with living while in CVG?
Thanks for any inputs in making understandable how the commuting would work while working for ABX.

Yes the company helps you when in domicile......they pay you a salary. You have to figure it out from there!

Can anyone post a typical schedule? I'm curently a regional captain and was wondering if it's a solid move. What is your insurance like? With the growth announced from the Amazon deal- anyone care to hazard a guess to upgrade time? How difficult is it to swap from the 17 on/14off to the week on week off rotation? How much flying is international vs domestic? What are the hotels generally like? Feel free to PM me as well. Thanks.
