Flow goes both ways! Should also be given preference to new hires being an atsg employee. Another new hire claimed upper management already mentioned this.
Your understanding is wrong. The ATI MEC tried to get ALPA to block the ABX guys from coming over. Unfortunately for the MEC JH had agreed in contract negotiations that furloughed ABX crew members had to be hired before new hires at an ATSG carrier. ATI crew members would have had this same security all the MEC had to do was negotiate it.

Not now. Do you think JH would have held up the merger contract for this and risk losing combi business. I think not. An MEC has to have vision and take advantage with the little leverage they have.

You don't wait until the draught to negotiate getting water.

Maybe if the ATI rank and file start engaging themselves in their careers and realize the only way to survive at an ATSG carrier is for the ATSG pilots to work together for the greater good of all. The first step is to get leadership that does what is best for its membership and not get in bed with their bosses and the Company's attorneys.

I'm not advocating for the ATI folks to capitulate to the ABX folks, far from it. What I am saying is for them to find leadership that will work with the ABX leadership and project their interests so the two groups can work together for the betterment of both groups when dealing with a corporate structure that does not value either group.

This I too agree! Until you guys engage in the process .....you are screwed! Hell, JV knows this...he has all the power over you! Stated from a former Naval Aviator: you guys need to step up or just grow a set!

My wife is also pregnant, with our son due on 12/26. I spoke to the CP before I accepted the position and he was very understanding. He said we would work around it.

I want to caution you, though, because you have to meet certain requirements (https://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/whdfs28j.pdf) before you qualify for FMLA. Based upon my reading of this, neither you nor I will qualify for FMLA by the time our children are due.

Good to hear. It certainly seemed that way when speaking to the CP, so I'm glad to hear agreement with my observation.
