FDX Service Awards
Just got a catalog to order my 10 year service award "gift". As we negotiate for a contract, I think this well highlights our value in the company's eyes.
I went on Amazon and priced the lovely assortment of "gifts". They retail for about $12 each.
I'm guessing FDX is paying less than that. I'm glad my service is worth a dollar per year to them. They'd be better off to cancel this program than to actively mail this insult.

On the bright side, all the deadheading to/from work I've been doing over the years on Delta earned me a pretty sweet million miler gift. A bag worth over $400. At least I feel valued by Delta. Gave my spouse the choice of the 20 year FedEx service award, since I couldn't find a single thing that wasn't junk. Ended up with a little tool kit.
Forget the service award, how about a contract?

I suspect the Service Awards are relics from the PSP days (when employee moral was a valued commodity at FedEx). unfortunately, it's not that way anymore ...
For my 20 year Award I picked something I thought I might be able to donate to charity. Maybe they can put it in a silent auction to use as a fund raiser?
I agree, this program seems silly now. If my memory serves me correctly I think I remember the 10 year choices as being rather nice gifts? Maybe another victim of cost cutting measures?
