UPS expected to cancel A380?

Sorry to pile on, but your first statement is exactly the reason why you've grown so slowly, while FedEx has exploded in pilot and aircraft growth. And besides, I'd like to see them (either UPS or FedEx) Next Day or Second Day Air stuff from China, India, or anyplace else outside the lower 48. It's never gonna happen.
Any of you guys working for UPS remember when your airline was just starting out and your management went to the truck drivers and asked if any of them wanted to be pilots? None of them said "Yes." Now that was classic.

Aside from that, I'd avoid breaking my arm patting myself on the back like some of you guys. Does it make you scratch your head for even a moment why with roughly similar revenues UPS' net profit is nearly three times what Fed Ex makes? It's because of the trucks/trains full of volume sold as an air product that never (to our chagrin) sees an airplane. If you think Fred won't follow that model you need a drug test....but if you insist, don't bogart that joint my friend. Denial can keep one sane I suppose, but don't peddle it as truth.

You ought to think about running for congress, with that kind of math.
But, just to be sure you understand...Our CEO can beat up your CEO!!!

Revenues are roughly similar? I guess if you call within $12 billion, "roughly similar." And, $4 billion net profit is not 3 times $2 billion. But hey.what's a couple billion, eh?

Isn't that ironic. Gosh, FedEx could be making billions more than we are now...If the weak pilot group would have just grown a spine.

You know what would really be cool..... A blue angel photo of some sort of 2 FEDEX Md-11s along with 2 UPS MD-11s over the pacific. Signifying that both companies can haul the freight from asia to ya.

Actually it was even more sinister than that. The boxheads actually went to Embry Riddle and asked them how much it would cost to train a truck driver to fly a DC-8. After even Little Airplane-U laughed them out of the room they reluctantly "built" an airline from the contractors that had been flying their air product then began hiring like everyone else.

I didn't realize that I was patting myself on the back. Just stating the truth. I didn't get along well with UPS management, and I doubt they liked me all that much either. That's why I'm here now and not there now. Plain and simple.
But I've gotta say, you sound like you've been drinking too much of the brown Louisville coolaid, they serve on the plantation down there. I say this because I personally don't care that your company is "3 times more (net) profitable than is FedEx." I wouldn't care if FedEx were 3 times more (net) profitable than UPS. I say this because once our companies are (and will remain) profitable, than what I care about is, how are they treating us pilots, both with pay and benefits, as well as corporate culture, working conditions and work rules, etc. You see, if we don't share in the profitability of the company, it doesn't matter (to me, anyway), how great the company is doing. If they are treating me like a $5.00/hr employee, instead of like the professional that I am, well then, that's something to fix. If they expect me to fly, safely, throughout the night, with an extended hub turn, well then, safety would dictate that they provide me some facility or way to get some rest, so that when I operate into an airport, in the mountains, or requiring a low-vis approach, I'll be at the top of my game, instead of just hanging in the straps while fighting to keep my eyes open. It's issues like that, that are important. Know what I mean.
